Provincial group's strategy forum, Oct. 27, 2006
The ODSP Action Coalition's Strategy Day was a great success in East Toronto.  Nancy Shular, recipient, was one of the presenters, who spoke about her personal experiences with ODSP in Owen Sound.   Dana Milne talked about advocacy and coalitions and how there is more power in numbers.   More details... A final draft of the Provincial Coalition's web page was announced.

Kathy Hardill presented during the afternoon session on the Special Diet Allowance, and on the various legal, medical, and ethical issues surrounding the cuts and the new form.  For example, "mental health" factors appear to be completely excluded from Special Diet.

The Special Diet Tip Sheet ( link to old version ) has now been translated into French...

The Ontario Registered Nurses Association gave out hard copies of  this
backgrounder on Special Diet.

In late 2006 we had some  interesting "behind the scenes"
committee info up which mentioned the Ontario Medical Association and the "expertise" of the people who were advising the Ministry.

In the... early going (circa 2006-2007 changes to special diet) mental health issues are apparently never, ever mentioned in special diet allowance discussions and documentation.
Word is that about 90 people attended the 2007 strategy session which was held Nov. 15-16 of last year.
