There was some strong criticism of the Ministry's priorities in the Toronto Star in late July.  See also Helen Henderson's August 29 column about the the Ombudsman, the SBT and the provincial group's "Denial By Design" report.
The "Hands Off " campaign received some press in early October...  Canadian Press story to be posted...  Press release to be posted.  One photo was up; link to follow.

The Toronto Region group met on Friday Sept. 29th and
made placards for the Action Against Poverty Rally Tuesday October 17th.  We reported that there would be a Special Diet Clinic at Queen's Park on October 17th, following the rally, and that you had to pre-register.  The ONR campaign had 50 (fifty) spots reserved for us, available on a first come, first served basis.
In early October it became evident that Ontario Conservative leader John Tory will run against the Liberals' Kathleen Wynne in the 2007 election.  Wynne replaced Sandra Pupatello as  the new Education Minister. Apparently Tory choose the C.N.I.B. on Bayview Ave. to kick off his year-long campaign.
The rally was pretty good, all things considered. We were saying in late October that If stories ran in your community, people should try to keep the discussion alive by writing letters and articles...  you may also approach community media about doing more in-depth features on poverty issues.  Kate Allen had a letter in the Star on Saturday October 21.

Thurs Oct. 19 update: a
new Toronto Star editorial was in... earlier the Star had come out  big for the rally in an editorial on Sat. Oct. 14th.
Hansard - highlights Oct 17
Friday October 27th saw the provincial group's strategy day session take place at the Queen East Community Centre.  The Toronto group did not meet for the month of October due to the rally and the strategy day.  Next meeting Friday November 24th.
Index A to Z
The provincial group posted some new "Special Diet" materials in the summer... the special diet  was mentioned in some interesting "behind the scenes" committee info on the Legislature's web page... this had to do with a meeting at Queen's Park which took place on May 26th.

The Ontario Needs A Raise campaign met  Mon. Oct. 30 at ISAC, to de-brief about "Action Against Poverty Week" and the rally.  There was a lengthy discussion of how the busses and sound system etc. had to be changed on the fly.  Just in is the Premier's response to the letter that was sent to all of the M.P.P.'s... see the file mcguinty.html... rally files with minor updates incl. dinovo.html
