The rally was pretty good, all things considered and there was some media attention from Canadian Press and other outlets. We were saying in late October that If stories ran in their community, people should try to keep the discussion alive by writing letters and articles... people could also approach community media about doing more in-depth features on poverty issues. As an example, at left Kate Allen had a letter in the Star on Sat. October 21. |
Friday October 27th saw the provincial group's strategy day session take place at the Queen East Community Centre. The Toronto group did not meet for the month of October due to the rally and the strategy day; the next meeting was therefore on November 24th. The provincial group met again on December 1st. |
The Ontario Needs A Raise campaign met Oct. 30 at ISAC, to de-brief about "Action Against Poverty Week" and the rally. There was a lengthy discussion of how the buses and sound system etc. had to be changed on the fly. Just in was the Premier's response to the letter that was sent to all of the M.P.P.'s... see the file mcguinty.html... rally files with minor updates incl. dinovo.html |
