The Magura hydraulic brake is overkill for the front wheel in terms of power since that wheel is usually so lightly loaded, but the friction-less brake line made a huge difference in efficiency and has made the Magura the only brake that works satisfactorily with the tricky cable run up there.
It also works flawlessly mounted behind the fork (out of the way of the rack) thanks to the straight-line movement of the pads and the way they can be rotated to align with the rim.
