Daine looked up at the sound of feet. Numair came up behind her. She smiled at him and went back to watching the sunrise. It was especially beautiful this morning. It was like Numair's black opal pendant. Swirls of color and beauty drifting out of the night to bring a new day to the world.
" Have I been good enough yet?" asked Numair. " I still want to marry you."
"Oh, Numair what if we get married and one day you wake up and want someone more mature. Someone your age?" said Daine.
"Verlidaine Sarrasri, I love you and that is what matters. Can we at least be engaged or even engaged to be engaged?" pleaded Numair. He slipped a ring an her finger. She looked at him and said,
" I guess we could be engaged. Oh, Numair, I love you!" She looked down shly and saw that the ring was silver with a small opal on it. She looked up at him and he looked down at him. They leaned toward each other...
At the same time they both rolled out of bed at the same time. They looked at each other and Numair reached toward the bedside table and picked up something. Then he slipped a ring onto her finger. It was silver with an opal.
