Part 1
This story takes place on the evening the second anniversary of Verlidaine and Numair’s. Daine has been pregnant for about two months now. They are alone eating in the dining room of there home on the coast of Tortall near Pirate’s Swoop. A tall, powerful mage was in deep conversion with his young wife. Numair, the mage, with his mass of black hair pulled back in a horsetail to show a dark sensitive face. His wife, Daine, a wild mage, trying to soften his moods, was wearing a simple dress as the lady of the home would wear. The only jewelry she wore was earbobs on each ear and a wedding ring. Her curly brown hair was pinned up to show her full mouth, stubborn chin and dreamy hazel eyes. “Daine, dear, we need to talk about the baby,” Numair said seriously to Daine. “Yes, we do,” she replied. What are we going to name it, Arram?” Daine asked comically. “Daine, you know that I loathe that name! Be serious. With our different magic’s there might be some side effects,” the mage responded, slightly agitated. Daine had no response. She just sat there getting more upset by the second. Sure he is worried about magic. That is so him. We could worry about that later. I love Numair; I just wish that he wont always thinks of magic. I don’t care if our child has the Gift instead of Wild Magic. “Daine, listen to me. I just don’t want to see you disappointed if our baby has the Gift. I love you and the baby,” Numair told her once Daine looked upset. “I love you to. I will still love the baby, even if it has the Gift. Could we please worry about this later? “ “I guess? I worry about you and the baby. If anything happens to either of you, I don’t know how I could live anymore,” Numair told her with all of his heart. “Let us finish our lovely dinner, then celebrate our anniversary, Daine told him with a sparkle in her eyes. “Now, you have to be careful,” he told her sternly. “Come on my love,” she called to him down the hall to there chambers.
Part 2
Four months later in King Jonathon’s study. Jon, Thayet, Alanna, Numair and Daine were all talking together about the baby “I think it is wonderful that you are having a child,” the king to them. “Numair and I can’t think of a name for the baby,” Daine told them. “Also were worried about if our different magic’s going to cause a problem.” “I don’t know about that,” Alanna told them. “If there was going to be, Daine you would probably already be feeling it.” “It’s not like I don’t feel anything already,” she said dryly. Thayet and Alanna looked at each and started laughing. “I think us ladies will leave you men. I think you guys will find something to occupy yourself with,” the Queen told Jon and Numair with a twinkle in her eye. “Come Daine, we have little secrets for you,” Alanna the Lioness told Daine as she helped her up from the seat next to Numair. The Thayet and Alanna left supporting Daine on each side. They went to the Queen’s chambers. When they got there they all sat down on chairs. The Lioness and the Queen looked at each other and started laughing. “Do you guys mind telling me what is so funny?” Daine asked when the two started laughing their heads off. “It was so funny about how you and Numair sat together,” Thayet told the younger lady as soon as she calmed down. “We could defiantly tell that this chills is the first.” “I remember when I first realized that I was going to have Thom. George was so happy. He took such care of me. When I see you and Numair it’s like seeing me and George,” Alanna told her once she was under control. “Yes, Numair has been extra sweet. We haven’t has an argument since our anniversary,” Daine told them. “And we settle that that night with a little fun,” she said while a smile slid on her face. There was a knock on the door. “My lady, some urgent news came up with the Riders. Buri asked that you come down right away, a servant girl told the Queen. “I’m sorry but I have to leave. We could pick up this chat later?” she asked as she gathered up her things. “I think I should go down and help with you,” Alanna said. “Daine will you be alright? I will ring for someone to escort you anywhere you want to go,” Thayet asked with concern. “I think I will just go find Numair,” she told them trying to get out of the chair. “Oh no you don’t,” Alanna told her sternly. You’re conceived women. We will have Numair come and get you. You stay where you are.” “Just help me up so I could walk around a bit,” she told them a bit forlorn. “Fine.” Both women said, while each got one of Daine’s arms and helped her up. When both of the women were all the way down the hall, Daine sneaked out. She went on of the libraries. In there were Kelandry and her friends. “Lady Daine, may I help you? Asked Kel’s friend Neal. He had had a crush on Daine for years. “Oh, Neal. I’m sorry. I didn’t know that anyone was using this library,” Daine told the young knights as she backed out of the room. “We were just leaving,” Kel told her. Kel motioned for her friends to get a movin’ out of the room. Neal was a bit reluctant, but Kel went and dragged him out of the room. “Lady Kel, please stay,” Daine asked of the girl night. “Might you be able to find this book for me. Also help me into a seat.” Kel led her to a comfy couch and helped her down. Then Kel went off looking at the rows and rows of shelves. When she finally found it she gave it to Daine. “Thank you Kel. Can you help me up?” Daine asked. “Obbs bobs. I feel like an old lady when I can’t get up by myself,” she told the girl. “Do you need help anywhere?” Daine asked. “No, but thank you.” Kel left the library to find her friends. A minute later Daine left carrying her book. While she walked down corridor after corridor she was thinking. I love this baby and Numair but I don’t know if I want to have children. I’m just so scared. I know that I could talk to Thayet or Alanna. Even Onua. As she walked down the hall she bumped into Numair. “There you are Magelet,” Numair told. She fell back, but Numair caught her. “You should sit down. How long have you been walking?” he asked her with worry in his eyes. “Just for a little while.” She lied and didn’t really care. “No, you have. Come. Lets go to our rooms for the night. Your tired,” he told her as he led her to their rooms. There they had a deep talk. When Daine first sat down she started to cry. “Daine what is the mater?” Numair asked his wife with concern. “Oh, I’m just so scared. I want to have the baby and all. I’m just so scared. What if something went wrong? What if the baby died during birthing? How could I face you or myself?” she told Numair. He crouched down on the floor by her chair and gave her a big kiss. “I’m so proud of you. You’re so brave. I would never ever be mad at you if our baby didn’t make through the birthing. I would still love to death,” Numair told her. “Numair, I love you. You are the best!” she cried to him. “Lets order dinner to our rooms tonight.”
Part 3
The next day, Daine was in the palace stables visiting her pony, Cloud. “Oh Cloud, I don’t know if I should be worrying. Thayet and Alanna says that everything is normal. They should know. Look at how many kids they have,” Daine told her pony. You worry too much. Trust the purple one. She is a healer. You are strong. Cloud told her. “You’re right.” Of course I am. “Bye. Numair is going to design the nursery and I want to be there. Who knows what he would put up?" Daine started the trudge back up to her and Numair’s apartments at the palace. I took her longer than usual because she had to stop frequently to rest. When she got there Numair was just about done. “Aw, why isn’t the mother to be,” he told her grandly. “How do you like it?” The room was painted a light green. The chest of drawers was polished a set up on one side of the wall. A crib was put on the opposite side of the room from the window so the baby wouldn’t get cold. By the window there was a rocking chair right where the sun would shine in. Light green and pink rugs covered the floor. The room was just perfect. Too perfect. “Numair! This is simply lovely. But why decorate this room so beautiful when we have the bigger nursery at home,” She told him. “Yes, I did go a little over board. I just want the baby to have the best,” he replied while leading her over to the chair. “Sit. You need your rest.” He told her sternly. “You can’t get ill.” She sat there looking out the window while he just massages her shoulder, contently. That was my first story....here's the next.
