Can you help?
I received the following message from a
former student:
Hi, I am desperate for some help.
I trained as a teacher at Totley Thornbridge College of Education completing the
course in 1976. I have been sent a transcript of the course. This shows the
courses I completed, these were: Principles of Education; Practice of Education;
Advanced Main and main level courses, The home, family community and food
studies. Foundation Course.
I now live in the United States temporarily and wish to study for a Bsc, however the authorities here will not give me any credits for any of my completed teacher training, my completed probation year or my 4 years teaching, because I do not have a break down of the above courses. They will only credit me with a high school graduation.
Do you know how I can obtain a breakdown of these courses? I would be most grateful for any help you can give me.
Thank you.     Sheila Brassell( nee Day)

Welcome to the site for former members of Totley Thornbridge College.
Situated to the south of Sheffield, Totley was the home to several decades of students training to be teachers.
This site is in its infancy and has as it's starting point a number of photographs taken in the mid 70's. These are followed by a selection of photographs taken in the late spring of 1998, approximately 8 months after the closure of the site.
We are very pleased to have been given permission to publish Miss Baldry's history of the college
If you are an old member of the Totley community - an ex student, tutor, porter or cleaner- we would love to hear from you. Our aim is to make this site a place where memories can be jogged, histories updated and friendships rekindled.
Please send us your stories, photographs and any memories about your time at the college. Our e-mail address is at the bottom of this page
please leave your message in our Forum....

We know that there are a lot ex-students who have lost touch with former friends over the years. This is the place where we can all get back in touch and share our memories.
We also want your old photos, memories of the College and suggestions for the site.
