Udaipur, Rajasthan

Dancing in an old Haveli, now a museum. Once the rich royal men sat in the galleries to watch women dancing for their pleasure.
Rajasthani dancing is very spirited, twirling and spinning.
Dancers belong to a traditinal dancing caste. This is the only life allowed them in the old days. Now caste is outlawed, but socially it is still followed.
There is great joy and movement in Rajasthani dancing.
Rajasthani dancing is distinctively different from other forms of tradtional dancing.
