Varkala Beach
A dancer at the elephant festival in Varkala. Twentyone elephants, floats, bands, drummers beating furiously, actors, and more parade all day from temple to temple late into the night. This is a hereditary caste dancer, for centuries this family has performed.
Fishermen must remove each fish one at a time from their nets. They sell most of the fish to the fish sellers, locals, and restaurant owners who come down to the beach.

Crabs of all kinds, abound at Varkalabeach with every wave. In restaurants at night, land crabs come out in the sandy floors of restaurants to salvage tidbits also.
