Weapon and Armor Proficiency: none Special Multiclassing - Like all prestige classes, the intelligence master does not bestow any experience penalties for multiclassing. Additionally, the multiclassing restrictions placed on monks and paladins do not apply to the intelligence master. Increased Intelligence - The intelligence master's Intelligence score increases by 1. This is in addition to the ability score increases normally gained every 4 levels. Intelligence Ability - The intelligence master gains a special ability chosen from the following list: -- Skill Mastery The intelligence master selects a number of skills equal to 3 plus his Intelligence modifier. When making a skill check with one of these skills, the intelligence master may take 10 even if stress and distractions would normally prevent him from doing so. This ability can be gained multiple times, selecting additional skills for it to apply to each time. -- Skillful Epiphany The intelligence master retroactively gains skill points for any permanent increases to his Intelligence score. Future increases to the intelligence master's Intelligence score will also retroactively increase his skill points. The skill points must still be spent toward class skills and cross-class skills according to the character's class makeup. -- Skill Proficiency The intelligence master selects a number of skills equal to 3 plus his Intelligence bonus. From that point on, those skills will always be considered class skills for the character, regardless of what class he advances in. This ability can be gained multiple times, selecting additional skills for it to apply to each time. -- Logical Strike (EX) Using a full-round action, the intelligence master can study a single opponent. For the rest of the encounter, the intelligence master may apply his Intelligence modifier to attack rolls instead of his Strength or Dexterity modifier. The intelligence master can use this ability on multiple foes, but each foe must be individually studied for a full-round. -- Lore (EX) An intelligence master gains the ability to know legends or information regarding various topics, just as a bard can with bardic knowledge. The intelligence master adds his level and his Intelligence modifier to the lore check, which functions otherwise exactly like a bardic knowledge check. If the intelligence master is also a bard then his class levels stack with his bard levels when using this ability. -- Improve Existing Caster Level An intelligence master continues training in magic as well as his field of research. Thus, when this ability is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the meta class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (improved chance of controlling or rebuking undead, metamagic or item creation feats, and so on). This essentially means that he adds one to the level of some other spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day, spells know, and caster level accordingly. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before he became an intelligence master, he must decide to which class he improves for purposes of determining spells per day when he adds the new level. When applied to a psionic class, this ability will increase the character's power points and powers known as if he had advanced one level in that class. This ability can only be applied to spellcasting classes that use Intelligence as its key ability (such as a wizard). This ability can be gained multiple times. |
