| Moments: Kyra |
| Gil was reading a magazine, glad to have a night off, when the door to the townhouse opened and Kyra walked in. He looked up, his smile quickly fading as he took in her slumped shoulders and drawn face. Kyra set her briefcase down and took off her jacket, wincing a little. "What's wrong?" he asked worriedly. He hoped her shoulder wasn't bothering her again. Though it had been six months, she still had problems with movement where the bullet had damaged muscle and tendon. She grimaced, her hand going to her head. "A few of my female students decided to marinate in their perfume this morning." Her voice was low. Gil winced in sympathy. Kyra's aversion to heavy perfume, and the migraine-like headaches it gave her, was well known to him after he had bought her a bottle. She had thanked him, but he had seen the face she had tried to hide. When he'd finally gotten her to tell him what was wrong, he'd apologized, and since then stuck to the lighter scents that she could wear. Actually, he liked them better himself - it was part of what made her so unique. Getting up from the table, he came around to her side. He could smell the traces of the marinade and knew that it had to have been much worse for her during classes today. Slowly he pushed her red hair away from her face and was rewarded with a slight smile. "How can I help?" he asked quietly, so as not to aggravate her head. "I just need to lie down for a while," she whispered. He nodded, his blue eyes still concerned. He followed her into their bedroom, watching her as she slowly changed from her business suit to an oversize t-shirt. He moved over to the bed and pulled back the sheets for her. "Hmm…I always knew husbands were good for something," she said with a small smirk as she slid between the sheets. He leaned down and softly kissed her forehead. "Give me a chance, and I can show you what else we can be good for." He laughed quietly at her bemused expression. "No, not that, you insatiable woman. Besides - don't you have a headache?" She smiled, a twinkle in her green eyes. "Ah well, it was worth a shot." He shook his head as he went over to the windows and closed the blinds and the curtains, slowly darkening the room. He then slipped off his shoes and slipped into bed on the other side from his wife, his back against the headboard. He patted his thigh. "Rest your head here." Kyra arched an eyebrow but moved over to set her head on his lap. "Close your eyes," he said in that low, silky tone that Kyra loved to hear. She closed her eyes, her headache lessening just from being here, with Gil. Then she felt his fingers in her hair, slowly coming it back from her face. She sighed. He knew how much she loved to have him play with her hair. He kept stroking it back away from her face, letting his fingertips graze her scalp. Kyra could feel her body relaxing. Gil could see Kyra visibly relax. He knew how bad these headaches could be, with his own migraine problem. He'd had one in the six months they'd been married, and Kyra had been gentle and supportive while he'd been out of commission. He wanted to make sure he took care of her the same way. He let his fingers drift to her temples and began to gently rub the skin. He heard her make a small sound in her throat and a slight smile come to her lips. He stayed silent as he continued to move his fingers in small circles. He watched as her breathing slowed into a steady rhythm, her body settling into an attitude of sleep. He didn't stop, wanting to make sure she was truly asleep. She needed the rest; she often didn't sleep well while he was working. After ten minutes, Gil knew Kyra was asleep. He gently moved so that her head was resting on a conventional pillow, and he could slide down the bed to hold her as he fell asleep. |
