My mundane name is Gerry Dowswell. I have been an active member of the S.C.A. for approximately three years. My persona is that of an English toy maker / carpenter, from Wiltshire England, within the last recognized era, as recognized by the S.C.A. I and my good wife Lady Una Sewenna ( Jean Dowswell ) love to dance, feast, and to make merriment. We both enjoy the social interactions and diversity that the S.C.A. provides. I especially like to interact with those having a youthful vigor. ( As to which I apply my trade of toys and puzzles ) So now unto my second objective.
I am currently serving as seneschal ( having their approval ) for the highly acclaimed shire known as the March of Saint Martin's. We are a small active S.C.A ( Society for Creative Anachronisim ) group that resides within the ''Kingdom of Ealdormere " ( Most of southern Ontario ). We take the best of the middle ages and recreate it to the best of our abilities with exacting safety precautions. We have heavy fighting ( people in amour fully protected and warranted with warranted marshals) Fencing ( same applies ) we also have dancing and feasting as well as have bardic circles ( singing and story telling ). We have merchants and artisans of every nature. All is done with pleasure and vigor holding chivalry and honor at its highest esteem. We hope that you would welcome us, as we would be honored to meet with you.
With highest regards: Lord Gerrard Carpentarius
A true " Toy Maker" Should strive to attain the following ideals.
1) Create quality toys , for time and play will attest to his/her ability
and to his/her worthiness. Ultimately the toy maker should produce a toy or
toys that have never been seen .
2)Create toys that are fun or challenging or have significant meaning.
3) Create simple toys so that Crown or Pauper might enjoy them.
