Since
a full size spare doesn't fit under the bed, I had no choice of installing it
inside the bed. The idea of installing it at an angle was cool because it looks
good, but it blocks rear view. On road it's not too bad but when backing up
in a thight spot on the trail, being able to see obstacles or ditches at the
back of the truck is important. That's why I decided to install it flat.
I
used two 2"X2" tubes welded together on which I welded a hub from
my old IFS parts. The tube assembly is bolted to the bed and the tire to the
hub and can be locked with a locking nut.
I calculated the position of the carrier to
hold the 35" spare and the 38.5" Swamper. I also left some place
at the front so a tool box can fit.
(I will built it later).
