This
is a kind of a Band Aid to fix a problem with my front drive shaft not having
enough travel. Since I installed the front missing link shackles, the front
can droop a lot. This make the drive shaft to get out of the splines and fall
on the ground. Not very practical. The best solution to this is to have the
drive shaft modified to have longer splines, but it is expensive ($500-550CAN).
So what I did, was to have the drive shaft lenghtened 3" and balanced($75CAN).
This will keep the drive shaft from falling at extreme travel (one wheel compressed
and one drooping) but doesn't solve the problem if I have the truck in the air
and the two wheels drooping at the same time(It happens to me once every 3-4
years when I jump the truck so it's not a real problem). To overcome that, I
made the limitting straps that are installed in the middle of the axle so it
can keep the complete axle from drooping to much but doesn't make any restriction
if the axle is working one side at the time.
