1979-1995 Truck and 4Runner Door Seam/Cab Rust | ||||||||||||||||
The above picture illustrates the typical door seam rust found on 1979-1995 Trucks and 4Runners. This particular picture aove is a 1990 Toyota 4Runner driver rear door. The rust actually isn't anywhere near as bad as it gets for older generation pickups and 4Runners where by the door bottom will actually seperate and flap around. The seam sealer around the perimeter of the door cracks and rust begins. It's not uncommon for the bottom of the door to rust so severely that it seperates and flap when the door is opened/closed. The picture below illustrates a typical 1979-1983 Toyota pickup door seam and lower cab rocker (what rocker...). There is so much rust in the cab structure that I can actually take the entire passenger rear corner of the cab and shake it several inches. If I really wanted to, I could bust it off. Trucks from 1984-1988 and 4Runners from 1984-1989 are somewhere in between in terms of rust in these spots. In Minnesota, we call these rust holes air conditioning. |
