If you want to read and write Thai language with English software programs:
A.If you DO NOT use Windows , Please click here
B. If you use Windows XP
1. Click at "Start", "Settings","Control Panel","Regional Settings" then select Thai at "Language" click OK, then click at " Keyboard", "Language", "add" then select "Thai", mark at "switch language " and "enable at task bar", click OK.
C. If you use Windows
1. Update your Windows and Internet Explorer.
1.1.Then you will see "Regional and Country " at the lower left conner, please select the country where you are. If you do not find the name, please go the end and click " all Country" , then select the country where you are
1.2. At the lower right conner, you will see " Language" ,please select " Thai" . If you do not find the name " Thai" , please go the end and click " all " , then select " Thai"
2. Click at "Start", "Settings","Control Panel","Regional Settings" then select Thai at "Language" click OK, click at " Keyboard", "Language", "add" then select "Thai", mark at "switch language " and "enable at task bar", click OK
C.If you use Windows NT, or Windows 2000 .Please click here

D.For Windows 9X or Windows ME :
Microsoft makes it easy to read and write Thai. Please continue as the followings:

1. Download (free!!) or Update( free!!)Internet Explorer(IE) to its newest version, please click here!!or at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie
2.Install IE and then click at "Tools", "Windows Update " and follow its instruction.
2.a: doing the Critical Update
2.b: doing the Internet Explorer Update
2.c:Then Scroll down the screen till you see " International Language Support ", scroll down further and select " Thai Language Support "
It will download and install Thai fonts automatically.
3. You can read Thai langauge at the website with Internet Explorer by
3.a: At menu "View", click at "Encoding" select "Thai Windows "
3.b: If you can not read Thai at some sites, you have to try to select the "Encoding" as "Western Windows" or " User Defined "
3.c :If you still can not read Thai website, then
At IE, click at "Tools", "Internet Options" "Fonts"
"Languages script" select "Thai"
"Web page font" select " Tahoma "
click "OK"
Click at "Languages" " Add", select "Thai (th)", "OK"
and "OK" again.
4. To write in Thai.
4.a: If you use Windows 9X or Windows Me and already Update for Thai Language support as in #1, 2 ,3 at the above, then
4.a.1: At Desktop, click at "My Computor", "Control Panel","Keyboard"
4.a.2: At "Keyboard Properties", Click " Language","Add"
4.a.3: Select "Thai","OK",
4.a.4: Mark at the first circle infront of "Switch Languages", and mark at " Indicater enable on taskbar " and click "OK" buttons
Now you can see "En" or "Th" at the lower right conner of the monitor. This is your "keyboard switch" between English and Thai language by pressing "Shift" and "Alt" at the same time at your keyboard.
5. If you can not use Keyboard switch from Microsoft. Then you go to the "Thai " folder, then double click at
"Thaikb.exe". ( Tor ta han and Alphabet E ). You will see 3 small squares
at the left upper corner of your monitor. This is a Thai-English keybord switch.
If you want to type in Thai, click at the 1 st square until you see Tor ta han.
( if you want to type in English click at the 1 st square until you see Alphabet E ).
Open your word processor or e-mail program
Then place your cursor where you want to type.
Some time you may have to change the "encoding " to "Western Widows " or " User Defined " or " Thai Windows " so you can write in Thai.
You may seeTor Taharn alphabet when you write as a small square, do not worry, your reader can read it without difficulty.
6.Do not forget to install Thai font to your word processor and e-mail program as the above.
7.If you want a picture of Thai Keyboard layout, please Print or Download thaikybd.jpg and print it later.

At the menu bar. Go to "Tools","Options",
At "Read", click at "Font" , at " Font Setting ", select "Thai"
Select Tahoma font for " Proportional Font" and select a Phaisarn98 for a " Fixed font" , click at " Sets as default" and "OK"
At "Compose " tab, click at " Font setting" and use " Tahoma , size 10 " then click at "OK",
At " Send " tab, click at " Internation setting", select " Thai Windows" "OK"
check at " Plain Text ", click at " Plain Text Settings ", check at "Mime", at " Encode text Using " select " Quote Printable " ,then click at "OK" and "OK".
If you wish not to use Internet Explorer , please
1. Download thai.zip file and unzip it to a new directory or folder and name it as " thai ".
After you Unzip, you will see several Thai fonts which you have to install all of them .
Follow instructions at # 2, 3, 4, 5 below
If you have problem or can not find Thaikbd.exe and thaihook.dll files after unzip the thai.zip file
then you have to go
"Start ", "MS DOS Prompt " and use the following command to get them:
cd \thai
expand Thaikbd.ex_ Thaikbd.exe
expand thaihook.dl_ thaihook.dll
If you have problem to download or unzip the " thai.zip " file, you can download each individual files as the following:

A. Getting a free Thai font, "Dbttf_n.ttf " at:
ftp://ftp.cs.washington.edu/pub/thaisys/software/dos/"

Dbttf_n.ttf is a " fixed "Thai font whose name is " Fixed DB Thaitext New ".

B. Getting free Thai True Type fonts (tttffont.zip )at:

ftp://ftp.nectec.or.th/pub/pc/font/
DBTT or DBThaitext font is a "Proportional or Variable Width" .

C. Getting a free Thai keyboard switch and Thai word processor program, "CWW.zip " at:
ftp://ftp.cs.washington.edu/pub/thaisys/software/dos/cu-writer/

Unzip the " CWW.zip " file and install it to your Windows 3.X

If you use Windows 95 or 98 , you need only 4 files from CWW.
They are Thaikbd.exe, Thaikbd.ex_, thaihook.dl_, thaihook.dll
If you can not find Thaikbd.exe and thaihook.dll files after unzip CWW.zip
then you have to go to DOS and use the following command to get them:
expand Thaikbd.ex_ Thaikbd.exe
expand thaihook.dl_ thaihook.dll
After you have all of the above files, then
D. Make a new folder and name it as "Thai"
Put all of 6 files, "Dbttf_n.ttf" Dbtt.ttf, Thaikbd.exe, Thaikbd.ex_,
thaihook.dl_, thaihook.dll in the new "Thai" folder.
2. Install Thai fonts to your Windows 95 or 98 .
Click at "Start", "settings", "Control Panel ", "Fonts" "File" "Install New Font",
look at the "Thai" folder and click it, highlight all of the fonts, and install them to your Winndows 95/98
3. Install the Thai fonts in your programs ( MsWord, Netscape, Internet Explorer
MsOutlookExpress etc.. ) which you want to use Thai
AOL user, please contact AOL Technical support and request the " AOL Netmail " program so you can read e-mail in Thai language.

Eudora E -Mail Program:
From my experience, Eudora is the best and easiest for e-mail in Thai language.
You can get it for free at http://www.eudora.com or at http://eudora.qualcomm.com/eudoralight/
At the menu bar: Click at : "tools", "Options", "Font & Displays " "Screen Fonts" then change font to "DB Thai Text, size 16 ", click OK.
At " sending mail", check at all options.
When compose a new mail, push the bottons " QP "
B. Netscape Navigator , Communicator & Netscape Mail.
At the menu bar. Go to " Edit ","Edit". "Preferences", "Appearances", "Fonts"
For the Encoding, select " User Defined "
At Variable Width Font, select DB Thai Text, size 16
At Fixed Width Font, select Fixed DB Thai Text New, size 12
Check at "Use my default fonts overriding documente- specified fonts
Check at "OK"
Go to "View", "Character Set" and Select " User Defined "
Go to Netscape Mail and repeat the above procedures.

After it is done but you still can not read Thai alphabet. Please go back to "Edit". "Preferences", "Appearances", "Fonts"
For the Encoding, try to select between " Western " or " User defined " and Click "OK" to see which one is working for that site.
