Bruce A. Bassett

Bruce was educated in Cape Town and SISSA (International School for Advance Studies, Trieste) receiving his MSc and Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor George
Ellis and Professor Dennis Sciama before working as a research
fellow at University of Oxford.
With his friendly and easy life style, he works and collaborarates with physicists across the world e.g. Oxford, Rome, Trieste, M.I.T., Tokyo, Bonn and others.
Bruce has published many works on cosmology, from inflation, preheating, cosmic microwave background to brane world cosmology. He is currently a senior lecturer at the new Institute for Cosmology and Gravitation at the University of Portsmouth and his past and present Ph.D. students include Fermin Viniegra, Chris Gordon, Imogen Heard, Fabrizio Tamburini and David Parkinson.
Chayan Boonyarak
Assoc. Professor Dr. Chayan Boonyarak received his B.Ed, M.Ed. in Physics from College of Education at Prasanmitr and Ph.D. from University of North Texas, USA. His expertises are on practical astronomy and also physics education. He held the chair of Naresuan Physics department for many years. His work on promotion of astronomy to school teachers has been very successful for many years through the Naresuan M.Ed. programme in Science Education.
Ciprian Dariescu
Professor Ciprian Dariescu received his first degree (Liceum, Mathematics-Physics Profile) in 1981 and he graduated the Faculty of Physics, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania, in 1985. He got his Ph.D., in 1993, in Extended General Relativity, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ioan Gottlieb.
He also won lots of awards and honours including:
the State Grant for Distinguished Student Laureate,
Honours and Distinguished Diploma (10 out of 10) and
MONBUSHO Scholarship.
Professor Ciprian is a member of many scientific societies e.g.
American Mathematical Society,
Tensor Society (Japan),
European Physical Society.
Apart from his academia responsibilities, he is also a reviewer and referee for some journals e.g. American Mathematical Review,
Foundations of Physics
and Foundations of Physics Letters.
His area of
research lies on General Relativity, Gravitation and
Cosmology. As the youngest physics professor in
Romania, he is now working at Department of
Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Physics, "Al.I. Cuza"
University of Iasi, Iasi, Romania.
Marina Aura Dariescu
Professor Marina-Aura Dariescu graduated from the Faculty of Physics, "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania, in 1985, and she got her Ph.D. (1994), in Gauge Theories in Elementary Particle Physics, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ghe. Zet.
In her major field of research, she visited many universities from Zurich, Jena, Dortmund and Tsukuba and participated in a lot of International meetings. As the Secretary of the Romanian Society on GRG (1990-1996) she organized annual Conferences on Theoretical Physics-GRG, in Bistrita-Romania. She is a member of the European Physical Society and Tensor Society (Japan). Her current area of research lies at the edge of Particle Physics and Cosmology. Now, she is working, as a full Professor, at Department of Theoretical Physics, "Al.I. Cuza" University of Iasi, Romania.
Burin Gumjudpai
Burin is now just a Ph.D. student at the new Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (RCG Portsmouth) under Professor Roy Maartens. So far he has not yet
had any international publications. He was educated at Lomsak, Phetchabun before going to Chiang Mai University where in 1996 he completed his B.S. in Physics under Dr. Gobwute Rujijanakul. At Chiang Mai, Professor Sodcheun Wibulsake introduced him theoretical physics. He decided to come to theoretical physics even though he realised that it could be too hard for him.
Directly after completing his B.S. in 1996, he went to Naresuan University as an instructor of physics. After two years of teaching, in 1998, he received the British-Thai Scholarship scheme to go to Sussex for his M.Sc. in Particle Cosmology. Dr. Mark B. Hindmarsh was his M.Sc. superviser. Burin is also one of the founders of the Students' Forum for Theoretical Physics at Chiang Mai University in 1994 which later was transformed to the Tptp group at Naresuan University in 1996. Fearing of being lonely in his country, he thinks that there should be more people knowing cosmology in Thailand, therefore he proposed to organise this school.
Seckson Sukhasena
Seckson Sukhasena received his B.Sc.(Physics) in pure physics from Naresuan University in 1998 under supervision of Associate Professor Charan Promsuwan and his M.Sc.(Physics) from Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) in 2000 under supervision of Dr. Yu Peng Yan. In 1996, he joined the Tptp Group when he was the third year physics undergraduate. He was the first student member of the Tptp group. At present, he is a lecturer in physics at Mahasarakham University.
