Football Game Scout Ushering

On October 20, 2001, the Troop ushered at the Georgia Tech vs North Carolina State University football game (Homecoming) played on Grant Field at the Bobby Dodd Stadium.  The Troop left the church at about noon and rode Marta to the North Ave Station where we walked down the hill to Grant Field.  We received our ushering assignments and were fed a small lunch well prior to gametime.  Marcus was assigned to the crew of Boy Scouts in charge of raising the U.S. Flag during the playing of the National Anthem.  While this game was a sellout, the problem with the limited seating space on each bench seat didn’t become a major problem.  The webmaster was thanked by a number of adult fans for the Boy Scouts and Scouters’ service as ushers.  I’m sure we will return to usher in future years.  Fortunately, while Georgia Tech missed five field goals (two blocked, one wide, and two bounced of the left upright), they won. The Georgia Tech field goal kicker must be mighty accurate if he can bounce the football off the left upright twice in one game :-) .
