Bike Trip

On March 17-18, 2001, the Troop went on a bicycle trip to and from the Stone Mountain Park.  We had a good time.  We biked together with Troop 107 (Oakhurst Presbyterian Church) of the Soapstone Ridge District and Troop 158 (Clarkston United Methodist Church) of the Hightower Trail District.  These were two out of three of the troops we camped with at summer camp at the Bert Adams Scout Reservation in the summer of 2000.  At Stone Mountain Park, the three troops camped near each other in the Family Campground.  The highlight of the trip was the Lasershow Spectacular.

Watch Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless the USA" (Link at bottom of page) (10857kb Quicktime Movie) during the Lasershow Spectacular.

During the biking part of the trip, whether it was intended or not, it was learned who were able to bike a long distance, and therefore helped to determine who would be able to participate in BRAG in June.

Our troop's trip to the Stone Mountain Park made the Soapstone Ridge District egroup; a virtual newsletter emailed to adult leaders (those who are signed up for it) in the Soapstone Ridge District of the Atlanta Area Council, BSA.  Click here to read the text of the article.
