From her earliest days, LaRissa had been exposed to science and technology. Her father was a doctor, and her mother, a chemist. She excelled in school, but remained an outcast from her classmates due to her cool demeanor and overly studious nature. She was raised responsibly by her parents, not spoiled or neglected. Where her parents were content to work for others, sharing their gifts and talents with the world, LaRissa wanted more. She received a Ph.D in Biochemistry from Yale, an M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and a J.D. with a specialty in corporate law.
She wanted power, prestige, and money. After finishing her educations, the offers poured in. She took the job as CEO of BioGene Pharmaceuticals and made the company known worldwide. It ranks in the Forbes 500 and stock trades on the Nasdaq. It did not take long for the Syndicate to take notice of LaRissa, and so they recruited her. The chance was one she just could not pass up, so she agreed to serve on the board of directors.
While Biogene Pharmaceuticals develops medicinal drugs designed to fight cancer, LaRissa has employed a secret division called Black Lotus. Just as cancer drugs target particular cells to destroy them, the drugs developed by Black Lotus serve darker purposes. One of Black Lotus's projects is a way to make designer drugs -more- addictive, so that withdrawal becomes fatal. She has also toyed with the idea of drugs that would attack the cells of the brain that control free will, slowly turning subjects into zombies without the ability to resist commands they are given.
LaRissa is highly intelligent, beautiful, and deadly. She is a expert marksman and has been known to carry poison on her person to eliminate her adversaries. She shows very little emotion, and is considered cold and heartless by all who know her. However, she will fly into a rage against those who disobey her or fail in assignments they are given. The worst offenders have found new jobs as test subjects for Black Lotus and are never seen again.
