Transcender System Key BruteForcer is a perl script which is aimed at "brute forcing" your machine's unique system key. A hybrid between cracking and hacking technologies. Although this was most probably the first of its kind, it still takes that much time and that much user intervention.

It has been quite some time and there hasnt been any viable crack or patch for any of the new 2000 updates for the transcender products. The last crack was CORE's keymaker. There are also a number of reversed Msvbvm50.dll out there, but that doesnt work no more if you update your transcender.

Transcender LLC has been updating its security and propietary rights by making a transcender which is security wise 'hard-to-crack'. The 2000 updates are Visual Basic 5 P-coded apps. You can try to dissassemble it by using EXDEC but i doubt you could find any strings like "The key you have entered is incorrect..." But then again you could try WKTVBDebugger. so you could patch it before it Jumps to BRANCHF. Hows about using SoftICE and setting a breakpoint at hmemcpy. then tracing out of virtual machine code. you could do that! But then again you should acquire at least the skills of a NOVICE if you would like to crack or patch any p-coded VB5 appz. Why not ask tKC or disavowed, they would surely know what to tell you. (right guys?! :)

 

Here are the requirements for tsbf.pl:

  • Win9x operating system. (Tested only on Win98SE)
  • Active State Perl 5 or higher installed and working
  • Transcender product and its update... installed!
  • and a lot of PATIENCE!!!

    So here's what you should do:

  • download tsbf.zip
  • extract tsbf.pl on the directory where you have installed the particular transcender product. (e.g. \Program Files\Transcender\Sql-ad~1.0 )
  • now open the UNREGISTERED transcender and get your Product ID. Just follow the pictures below.

  • Click YES on the first nag window.

  • Click MANUAL REGISTRATION on the second nag window.

  • On the third nag window, write down your Product ID on a piece of paper. You can also write down your System ID for safekeeps, but you wont use that on the tsbf.pl script.
  • Just press the CANCEL button to terminate the transcender application.
  • open windows explorer. double click the TSBF.PL file and input the necessary blank fields. (notice the highlight on the picture!)

  • after every decrement of the current System Key, the transcender application is executed. so just press the NO button.

  • if by chance you stumble upon the correct System Key then you should see the main Transcender program. Just press CTRL+C on the MS-DOS window.

  • Congratulations...

    Some points to remember:

  • First of all the USER should have permission to edit the Registry.
  • The System Key blank field defaults on 9999999999. Maximum value of a combination of ten digits. From that default starting point it decrements by 1.
  • System Key blank field is limited only at most 10 digits.
  • The user has the choice of either starting from the default 9999999999 system key or input a random system key of his choice.
  • The wait time which is default to 5 secs is also customizable.
  • Because this script doesnt give you the exact system key, hence the name BRUTE FORCE. Logging with timestamp was included in the perl script. Just check out tsbf_out.log on the current directory where the tsbf.pl was executed.

    I am not a cracker but I did study their craft. Check out Filemon, RegMon, Hiew, Hex Workshop, W32Dasm, SoftICE, SmartCheck, Exdec and WKTVBDebugger. 2 weeks of crack-culture yet this situation seems hopeless! At least I didnt give up...
