*** Belts became known as the WWWF International Tag Team Titles.
**** Belts became known as WWWF World Tag Team titles.
NOTES
1 Bruno Sammartino won the world title and had
to forfeited1 the tag team titles. As a result, the titles became
vacant.
2 A tournament was held to crown the first WWWF
World Tag Team Champs because The Mongols left the WWWF and took the International
Tag Team titles with them.
3 Rivera gave up his half of the tag title in
June of 1975. DeNucci chose Barrett as his new partner.
4 The Executioners were forced to vacte the
titles after outside interference. Strongbow & White Wolf defeated
The Executioners and Tar Kamata & Nikolai Volkoff in a triangle match
for the titles.
5 White Wolf's injury caused him and Strongbow
to forfeit the titles. Prof. Tanaka & Mr. Fuji won the titles
by winning a tag tournament.
6 Backlund won the World Title so he and Morales
had to forfeit the tag titles. A tournament was held to crown to
champs. The Samoans defeated Garea & Rene Goulet in the final.
7 Deisel and Michaels split after the 1994 Survivor
Series and gave up the titles. Holly & 1-2-3 Kid defeated Bam
Bam Bigelow and Tatanka in the final of the tournament for the vacant titles.
8 Gorilla Monsoon stripped Deisel and Michaels
of the titles and gave them back to Hart and Yokozuna.
9 Smoking Gunns had to vacate the titles due
to Billy Gunn's injury. A tournament was held and the BodyDonnas
defeated The Godwinns in the final to become new champs.
10 Michaels was forced to vacate the titles because of an
altercation with Bret Hart. A tournament was held to determine would
would face Austin and a mystery partner (Dude Love) for the titles.
Hart and Bulldog won the tournament but lost to Austin and Dude.
11 A four corners tag match was held to determine the new
champs. The titles were vacated because Austin had a neck injury.
The match consisted of Hart & Bulldog, LOD, The Godwinns and the Headbangers.
12 Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie thought they defeated
the New Age Outlaws in a dumpster match, however, they put the Outlaws
in the wrong dumpster. The titles were held up and the two teams
faced off again with the winner getting the titles.
13 Kane did not show up and Mankind was forced to defend
the titles alone.
14 The Acolytes defeated both The Hardy Boyz and their manager,
Michael Hayes, by pinning Hayes in a No DQ match with the titles on the
line.
