The game also marked the debut of Gay Pheonix, who's late inning throw out of a wayward Bandit at home plate could very well have made the difference in the game. A breathless Gay explained after the game, 'I've been studying and traing under the tutelage of Grandpa Pheonix all season.... just waiting to get the call from Fabio (Captain Ron?)... i'm just happy I could help the team out!'
The 'Billies hit a few road bumps early in the match, with 18 consecutive fly-outs to centre field. 'It looked like we were playing game of horse out there', said Tractor Trailer Taylor, 'You've got to admire the team's consistency though... 18 in a row...unbelievable'. The momentum started to swing for the 'Billies in the 5th inning, with a solid lead off hit by Porn Lover. The team started spraying the ball all over the field, and eventually took the lead for good in the eigth inning. The string of hits was highlighted by the first two RBI's of the season for Mad Dawg Matheson. It was a big night all around for Mad Dawg who also scored her first run of the year in the 7th inning and made a spectacular catch in right field. 'i've been doing windsprints with the parachute, and working on my footwork at the track... I'm just really happy i could finally help the team put some runs on the board', a beaming Mad Dawg explained.
Bubba Gump was perhaps the proudest 'Billie of all at the end of the game. 'The team needed this....morale's been pretty low recently... it was good to see all the hard work pay off for Mad Dawg and Porn Lover... you can rely on the guys like BIG UNIT, Charlie Brown, and Rusty to come through every game... but to win in this league you need a total team effort, a commitment.. .and that's what you saw out there today... guys were leaving it all out on the field....i can't lie to you though... just having Captain Canuck at the park lifted the team's spirt.. she's a superstar... She's that special kind of once in a lifetime player who can take a team on her shoulders and carry them....'
The Billies continue there busy week with three games in the next two days, including the big double-header on friday night..... with a couple of wins the 'Billies can climb right back into contention for the championship. 'That's the goal', explains BIG UNIT,'we're not here to finish fourth or fifth or sixth or even get demoted or maybe even get contracted... or maybe just fold... or maybe even get amalgamated with Andy's team...... we're here to win, BABY!.'
