Gregory, Lady

Lady Gregory (1852 - 1932), born at Roxborough, Co. Galway, was a leading figure in the Irish Revival. Married to Sir William Gregory in 1880, she was widowed in 1892. Along with W. B. Yeats, whom she met in 1896, she co-founded the the Irish Literary Theatre (later the Irish National Theatre Society). Yeats spent many of his summer holidays at her home in Sligo.
