Although the lyrics to Van's song "Slim Slow Slider" from Astral Weeks are open to various interpretations, the suggestion has been made that it might have been a "drug" song, with "slim slow slider" being a reference to a needle, and "horse" being the street slang for heroin. Other references which could be taken as supporting this interpretation include "white as snow", suggesting highly pure, uncut ("snow" also often a reference to cocaine, which is white).
