| This is
Will's newest saber. I made this based off of Yoda's saber. Of
course the actual dimensions of Yoda's saber would barely hold just the the
blade. I had to make this one longer. You can see in the bigger picture the small slide switch on the side used to turn the EL inverter on and off. |
|
| It is also small - made to fit a 4 year-old's hands. It ended up being about 9" long and very tight getting the electronics, wires, blade sleeve, and battery inside. |
|
| The other
differences between this hilt and Yoda's (aside from the size) are the
additions of the thumbscrews that hold the blade, set screws that hold the
battery compartment door on, and no knurls on the pommel. I just could find a good knurled knob or button big enough to fit it. So I used more slipped aluminum tuning to create it. |
|
| The grips were constructed
from another tube of aluminum cut into 4 pieces and painted. The same
tubing was used to make the base of the clamp and the shroud. The
sides of the clamp was constructed from aluminum u-bar and the inside of the
clamp was aluminum sheet cut and shaped to fit. The blade sleeve was a new adventure for me. I made it from PVC instead of the turned aluminum ones I normally use. I could not find PVC in a size that was tight on the blade, hence the reason for 3 thumbscrews. This way I could get the blade tight in the hilt and keep it straight. |
|
| Also, unlike Yoda's saber, this one has a blue blade. I made it the same as I have all the others, except it is only 24" of lighted blade. Smaller and more easily managed by a less than agile 4 year-old. These pictures make it look VERY bright, but if you have an Anakin FX, this is substantially dimmer. |

| Will
really likes it so, I am pleased with it. Now, we can spar in style! Check out my little padawan below. The smile says it all. |
