Marriage is a religious sacriment, not a political one.

I am strongly opposed to a Constitutional Ammendment defining the definition of Marriage.

The definition of marriage should be held and determined by Churches, not by Government. And especially not the Federal government.

If a Marriage Ammendment ever gets ratified, the Fed will then have the ability to enforce a marriage ammendment. We already have too much intrusion into our private lives, by the federal government. I don't want the Fed to have any more excuse to interfere in our lives.

This is not to say that I don't agree with the Bush's proposed definition of Marriage. I do. I just don't believe Government is the proper entity to be the keeper of such a definition.

According to how the 10th Ammendment is traditionally interpreted, marriage is a state function, not a function of the fed.

The marriage issue shouldn't even be an issue. It wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't have taxes favoring one group over the other. To get rid of this, we need to abolish the IRS.

2ndly, we need to get rid of laws that force employers to provide medical insurance to married people. If employers were free to decide for themselves what benefits to provide, they could choose for themselves whether or not to honor a same sex marriage.

In the end, the decision to honor a marriage should be decided by churches and private individuals.

Marriage is a religious sacrament, not a political one. It needs to stay such.
