Week 9
The embryo is now a fetus. Its muscles, organs, and nerves are starting to function. The eyelids are beginning to cover the eyes.
Week 12
The first trimester ends this week. The fetus is now about 2.5 inches long and has all of its body parts. Its main task over the next months will be to grow bigger and stronger.
Week 14
It's officially the second trimester now although the baby is only 3-4 inches long and weighs only about an ounce. Morning sickness should be gone by now. The baby's fingerprints have already formed!
Week 16
The baby is now 4.5 inches long and 5.5 ounces. It is sensitive to light and gets the hick-ups a lot although mommy probably can't feel them yet. What she can feel is tiny little kicks and flutters.
Week 18
The baby is about 5.5 inches long and about 7 ounces. Its eyes are looking forward and its ears are now in their final spot on the sides of its head. The baby's movements can now be felt quite regularly.
Week 20
The baby is up to 6.5 inches long and weighs around 9 ounces. It's skin is forming two layers and is covered by a protective coat. Pregnancy is officially halfway complete!
The fetus weighs nearly a pound and is roughly 7.5 inches long. It is now proportioned like a newborn. Those dainty little movements have now become karate kicks which may be seen through mommy's clothing.
The baby weighs just over a pound. It can now make out the distorted sound of mommy's voice, heartbeat, and stomach rumblings. Its lungs continue to develop.
Week 26
The baby weighs 1.5 pounds and is nearly 10 inches long! The uterus is getting rather large and pushing against mommy's lungs leaving her breathless.
The baby weighs between 2.5 and 3 pounds and is between 12 and 15 inches long. Its eyes open and shut now and its fingernails are budding. The baby is continuing to pile on layers of fat.
Week 30
The baby weighs more than 3 pounds and is 17 inches long. Brain growth is rapid and the lungs are almost fully developed.
Week 32
The baby weighs about 4 pounds and can now turn its head from side to side. Because the baby is feeling cramped, its movements will feel less frequent.
The baby weighs about 5 pounds and is around 19.5 inches long. It has most likely settled into head down position. Braxton-hicks contractions are probably present.
Week 36
The baby weighs nearly 6 pounds this week and next week will be full term. All preparations for baby's homecoming should be finished up this week.
The baby weighs around 6.5 pounds and is around 21 inches long. The pregnancy is officially full term now and baby can safely arrive at any moment.
Week 40
