If you are a long term investor, why are you looking here? You should be doing other things with your time.

As a long term investor put your money in long term investments like an index fund. Now, don't do that all at once, but take 3 to 5 years to get fully invested. Then when you need the money take it out over 3 to 5 years. That way you can spend the rest of your time doing enjoyable things rather than looking for investment advice.

If you want the "fun" of catching market ups and downs, then you are not a long term investor and need to look elsewhere.
