There's not much to say about this hike. Betsie and I started out on a bright, sunny morning expecting to see the incredible views of Long's Peak the trail is famous for. As we were nearing the summit a thick blanket of clouds moved in from the east and obliterated everything.
This is supposed to be a great pre-dawn hike to watch the sunrise hit Long's Peak. Andy wants to try this in 2004. I'm not sure if getting up at 3AM to watch the sunrise is worth it.
It's a fairly steep 3.7 miles to the summit with 2,338' of elevation gain.
The trailhead is south of Estes on Hwy. 7.
