Chapter Thirty One

Brian stopped singing. The fans clapped and whistled. Brian stood still. Only I could tell he was crying.

I stood there, numb in my seat

“That was sooo sweet,” Lisa whispered. I wasn’t sure if she was talking to herself or not

Brian looked at the audience. He suddenly felt sick. He ran off the stage.

Nick, Kevin, Howie, and AJ then came out

“Nature calls!!” AJ cried into his mic.

The audience started laughing. I didn’t smile. It wasn’t funny. Not at all.

“Good night everyone! Thank you and god bless!” Kevin shouted,

“Keep the backstreet pride alive!!” Howie cried. The fans cheered. My vision was blurred. Not with tears. Just confusion.

I shoved past everyone. I went up to the security guard

“Emily!” Jack, their long time security guard greeted me

“I need to talk to Brian,” I said

He let me go without another word

“Oh my gosh!! That girl went backstage!!”

“Hey!! Let me through!!! I need to talk to Kevin!!” One girl cried mimicking my voice

“I NEED NICK TONIGHT!!” Another girl shrieked. I ignored the screams and walked around looking for Brian. That song was the sweetest song I’d ever heard. I heard the message to. Brian finally realized that we could never be and he was saying good bye. I wouldn’t let him do that. What happened to all the good times? I’m so confused now! I can’t stand this. I need to find Brian...

I found Brian sitting on the floor. The rest of the crew had left. This area was only allowed for the backstreet boys. There was a tray of food nearby. Some jackets. A basically very empty room.

I sat down next to Brian. He looked at me in surprise.

“Brian…” I started. Brian looked at me,

“That was beautiful,” I whispered. I kissed his cheek

“I’m so sorry Emily…” Brian whispered back.

“Brian…I loved you so much…” I started crying. All the pain, the suffering, came back to me.

“You don’t have to do this Emily. I understand that you want to move on,” Brian choked back a sob “I’ll miss you,”

“I…I’ll miss you too,” I said getting up.

“Emily?” Brian asked me. He was still sitting on the floor.

“Yes?” I looked at him

“I love you,” Brian said. I looked at him.

“I…I…I love you too,” I stuttered and ran out the room. I ran out side crying quietly. I leaned against the back exit. The wind was blowing hard. I was free now. No more Brian. No! This isn’t what I wanted! I still needed Brian! I loved him! He loved me!
