Chapter Thirty Two

“All right girl!! Let’s get a move on!! This is gonna be the best!” Lisa dragged me out of my room. She had been lucky enough to snag two admissions to the newest club called “Starry Nights,” through a drawing contest held on campus. Only 20 people were going to be there. She felt honored I suppose. I asked her what was the point of dancing with each other since there were only going to be 20 people. She said that we were bound to meet guys. Oh sure…guys from a group of 20 people.

“Jeff’s going to be there too,” She said kind of smiling. I knew it! This was the reason she wanted to go.

“Here…” She tossed me a blue dress. It was dark blue, spaghetti straps. I refused to put it on

“It’s freezing out there!” I cried.

“Shut up and put it on,” She cried and left the room.

Grumbling, I put the dress on. I actually didn’t look that bad. I stepped out and waited for Lisa. We took off.



The club was actually really cool. The walls were all black and had little lightbulbs on them. Kind of like you were floating in space. I had found a really nice guy that was dancing with me. Very polite. He put his arms around my waist and kind of guided me around the room.

I was closing my eyes and I noticed that the guy had stopped dancing. I kind of just stood there looking around while he talked to another guy.

Soon he was back. I didn’t bother to check out who it was and I just put my arms around him again. But it didn’t feel the same. I laid my head on his shoulder. I sniffed, it was Ralph Lauren. I looked at my partner. I stared into a pair of amazingly beautiful blue eyes. I looked into the face of Brian Thomas Littrell. Brian didn’t say anything. Just guided me around the room. The song soon changed. It was Brian McKnight again. Memories of James came into my head. I gulped.

By the end of the song Brian was holding me tightly. I was pressed up against him and it never felt so good before

“Emily,” His voice was hoarse “I started back at one for you,”

“You’ve found your way back to my heart,” I whispered. I closed my eyes. For the first time in a long time. Brian pressed his lips against mine. His sweet lips. A tender, sweet kiss, he let me go and smiled at me

“Then I’ll start back at one…” He sang softly to me. I smiled I hooked my pinky with his. Brian smiled down at me and kissed my lips softly.
