Chapter 51
Before we knew it Christmas Eve had arrived.
I woke up early and went into my own little room. I closed the door. Then I pulled out Kevin's presents. There were just a few that still had to be wrapped. Once I finished I decided to call my mom.
"Hello," answered Jerry.
"Mom there," I said.
"Joy!" yelled Jerry. Then he set the phone down.
"Hello."
"Hi Mom. How are you?"
"Hi my baby. I'm doing good. You?"
"Yeah, great. I just called to see if you had gotten my present?"
"Yes, it's beautiful."
"Good. I'm glad you like it. It's my way of knowing that you're being taken care of."
"Yes, my guardian angel is watching over me. I know it."
"What are you doing for Christmas?"
"Well tonight your dad and I going to spend time with his family. And tomorrow we're going to your Aunt Sherry's. What about you?"
"Just me and Kevin. Everyone else is with their families. Plus we just wanted to spend this Christmas together."
"That's good."
"So how are you feeling?"
"Lately I've just been a little tired, but that's it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. I just get tired very easily."
"Oh, okay."
"Well sweetie, I have to go now. Your dad's telling me it's time for us leave. But I'll call you tomorrow."
"Okay, tomorrow. Bye, love you."
"Love you too. Bye."
I hung up the phone and then went back into mine and Kevin's bedroom. I walked in and he was just laying there staring. I climbed in bed and began to kiss him.
"Oh I love it when you wake me up like that," Kevin said as he wrapped my arms around me.
I smiled and then kissed his nose.
"What were you doing?" he asked.
"Talking to my mom and. . .wrapping," I said.
"You still haven't finished wrapping my presents?" he asked.
"Well I did now," I said.
"Oh okay," he said.
"Have you finished wrapping mine?" I asked.
"Um. . .well. . .no," he said.
"Kevin Richardson!" I said.
He smiled and then kissed me.
"I plan on doing that today," he said.
"Oh really," I said.
"Yeah, while you're gone," he said.
"Where am I going?" I asked.
"I have something planned, so you'll have to leave for a while," he said.
"Something planned?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, it's just for you," he said.
"Oh, for me. How sweet of you," I said. "What is it?"
"I can't tell you, that'd ruin it," he said.
"Please," I said as I gave him the puppy dog face.
"Nope. The puppy dog face isn't going to work this time," he said as he kissed my forehead.
"All right then. I guess I'll just have to wait," I said.
"Yes, you will," he said.
We laid in bed a while longer and then decided to get up. I made Kevin and I breakfast. Then we got dressed.
After that we just vegetated on the couch watching a movie. We laid there on the couch all day just watching t.v..
"I guess I better start making our dinner now," I said as I looked at the clock. It was already five.
"Oh no you don't," Kevin said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I have everything taken care of," he said.
"Oh really," I said.
"Yep. I just need you to go out for a wile," he said. "Here have my credit card. You can do some last minute shopping."
"I think I can do that," I said.
"Good," he said as he kissed me.
I got up and fixed my hair and make-up. Then I went back to Kevin.
"Are you sure you don't need me to stay? You might burn the house down or something," I said, smiling at him as I sat down.
"Ha, ha," Kevin said.
I kissed him. "I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he said.
"I know you do," I said. I got up and stuck my hand out. "Credit card."
"Here you go," he said.
"Thank you Boo," I said.
"Don't come home until I page you," he said.
"Alrighty!" I said.
"Be careful!" he said.
"I will!" I yelled as I walked out the door.
I got into the 4-Runner and drove to the mall. It took me forever to find a parking spot, but eventually I got one in the very back. It was a mad house when I got into the mall. People were racing around with their bags in both hands. I walked passed the toy stores where moms were fighting over the toys. I chuckled to myself as I pictured myself doing that one day.
Then I saw the pet store, so I decided to go in there. I walked around looking at all the adorable animals. But once I saw the golden retriever I stopped. The poor thing was whimpering. I stared at the pup and realized it looked like Kevin's old dog, Samson. I knew I had to buy it for Kevin.
I bought a leash for it along with toys and a little cage for it on the way home. I held the puppy and loved it. It began to lick me.
"You're a cutie, aren't you?" I said as I hugged her tightly. "Yes you are. I think we'll name you Candy."
I paid for everything and then walked out of the mall. As I walked to the 4-Runner my pager went off. I put everything in the car and then looked at it. It was Kevin.
