Chapter 56

Over the next week I began to pack for the trip. Kevin and the rest of the guys had gone to meet the people at The Firm. He came back pleased with what they had to offer. He also told me that the other guys seemed to like them also.

I called my mom and told her that we would be back soon. She was glad because she said she had been feeling kind of bad recently. Which made me worry, but she reassured me that everything was okay. I knew she was lying, but I was going to see her soon so I tried not to worry too much.

"Baby, I'm home!" yelled Kevin.

"Upstairs Boo!" I yelled back.

Kevin ran upstairs and swept me off of my feet as I was getting a shirt.

"Whoa!" I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck. He leaned forward and kissed me.

"What's made you so happy?" I asked as I saw him smile for the first time in a while.

"We signed with The Firm," he said happily.

"Did you? That's wonderful," I said as I hugged him.

"Isn't it though? We'll finally be treated with respect," he said.

"We must celebrate," I said. "Call the guys and we'll all go out to dinner."

"Okay," he said. He gently placed me on the bed and kissed me. "I love you."

"I love you too," I said.

Then I got up to find something nice to wear while he called the guys. Once I was though getting dressed I walked downstairs.

"It's about time!" Nick exclaimed.

"Hey Nicky!" I said as I hugged him.

"Take any longer?" he asked.

"It takes time to look beautiful," I said as I walked over to Kevin.

"No, it doesn't. My baby always looks beautiful," Kevin said as we interlocked hands.

"Thanks," I said.

"Well, are we ready?" Howie asked.

"Yep, let's go eat," Nick said.

We walked out of our house and piled into two vehicles. We went to a very exclusive restaurant so we wouldn't be bothered. All of us were so relieved that this whole thing was our with and now they had new management.

We all ate a big meal and had plenty to drink. The guys were genuinely happy now. They no longer had to pretend and lie to everyone that they were fine.

It was Saturday morning, the day we would leave for Kentucky.

I laid next to Kevin and slowly ran my fingers over his chest. He woke up and smiled at me. Then he pulled my body close to his.

"Good morning my beautiful fiancee," he said.

I smiled and then kissed him passionately. He began to kiss me and then moved to my neck.

I smiled at the thought of how wonderful this was. It was what I had always dreamed of, Kevin loving me.

He wrapped his arms around my waist and held me.

"Now that's the way to wake up," I said.

"I agree," Kevin said.

We laid there for a while longer, then we had to get up.

I went downstairs and made breakfast while Kevin finished the last minute packing. He took everything downstairs and placed them by the front door.

"It's ready!" I called out.

"Be there in a second!" Kevin yelled as he walked downstairs with the last bag.

He came in and we sat down and began to eat breakfast.

"How long are we staying?" Kevin asked.

"I'm not sure. But I want to spend a few days with my mom. She said that she hasn't been feeling too well lately," I said.

"Really? What's wrong?" Kevin asked.

"She won't really say. Just that she gets tired easily and sleeps most of the day," I said.

"That doesn't sound too good. We'll make sure to see her right as we get there," he said.

"Okay," I said.

Ring! Ring!

"I've got it," he said as he got up to get it.

"Hello."

"Hi Kev. You ready to go?"

"Hi Nicky. Yeah, give us about half an hour."

"All right. See you then."

"Uh huh. Thanks again Nick," Kevin said and then he hung up the phone.

"He'll be here in 30 minutes," Kevin said.

"Oh my gosh! I still have to get dressed," I said.

"Go ahead. I'll clean up," Kevin offered.

"Thank you," I said as I kissed him. Then I ran upstairs and changed into a pair of jeans and a shirt quickly.

I grabbed my journal out of my desk and ran downstairs. Then I placed it into my carry on bag.

"Ready to go?" Kevin asked.

"Yeah, I think that's it," I said.

"Okay, Nick's waiting outside," Kevin said as he picked up our luggage.

"All right. Let me get Candy," I said.

"I'm going to take these to Nick's car," he said.

"Okay," I said as I walked to the back.

"Hey Train," Nick said as Kevin walked out. "Want me to help you with those?"

"Yeah, there's a couple more inside," Kevin said.

"Sure thing," Nick said as he walked towards the house.

I let Candy in and she ran straight out the door.

"Candy!" I yelled. I ran after her and said hi to Nick quickly.

"Where do you think you're going? Huh?" Kevin asked as he picked her up. He rubbed her head holding her tightly. "Was Mommy chasing after you? She was, wasn't she?" he asked as he saw me come out.

"Daddy's got you," he said as she licked him.

He set her down and then started to run. She immediately began to chase him.

I laughed at the two of them. I walked towards the house as Nick came out.

"Hi Nicky," I said as I hugged him.

"Hey Shorty," he said.

I let go of him and walked back into the house searching for Candy's leash and toy. Once I found them I walked back to the front.

Kevin was hiding behind a couple of trees. Candy was standing in the middle of the yard searching for him.

I whistled to Candy and she came running. I picked her up and showed her where Kevin was. Then I set her down and she took off after him.

Nick came over to me as I watched them play.

"Thank you so much for watching her," I said.

"You're welcome," he said. "So what do you and Kevin plan on doing?"

"Once we get there, nothing," I said.

"That sounds good," he said.

"Yep. We don't have any plans or a schedule. We're just going to enjoy this time off with our family and each other," I said as Kevin walked over to us.

"Let's go," Kevin said as I handed him the leash.

"Okay," I said.

Kevin walked back to the house and locked everything up.

We got into Nick's truck and drove to the airport. Nick pulled up and stopped to drop us off. We got out and unloaded all of our luggage.

"Thanks again Nick," Kevin said. "And take care of Candy."

"I will, don't worry," Nick said.

"Thank you Nicky," I said as I kissed him on the cheek.

"You're welcome," he said. "Now you two lovebirds have fun."

"Don't worry, we will," Kevin said as he grinned.

I smiled and then picked up my bag.

"Bye Nick," I said as we walked away.

He waved to us and then left. We waited by our terminal for half an hour. Then our plane arrived and soon we boarded our plane.

We sat down and got comfortable. After a while I took out a book to read. Kevin took out a note book and began to write his thoughts down for new material. While reading my book I began to get sleepy, so I closed it and snuggled close to Kevin interlocking our arms. Kevin kissed the top of my head and continued writing.
