Chapter 64
I walked outside to find Kevin working on the garden. He was planting some new flowers.
"Hey baby," I said as I sat down on the brick.
"Hi," he said continuing to work, never once looking up.
He just continued to work as I sat there so I decided to go inside.
I sat down at the computer and decided to e-mail a few of my friends. Then I called a few people to see when I had to go in for an interview.
Kevin came in from outside and went upstairs to take a shower since he was all sweaty.
I was bored so I decided to make chocolate chip cookies. I turned on the radio on and then went into the kitchen.
Kevin walked downstairs and heard Janel singing along with the radio. He smiled as he walked into the kitchen seeing her sing without a care in the world. He picked up the big spoon and put it in front of her mouth.
"Sing it girl!" he said.
I smiled and took the spoon from him. Then I continued to sing using the spoon as my mic.
Once the song was over with Kevin began clapping.
"Thank you! Thank you!" I said as I bowed.
Kevin came up to me and wrapped his arms around me. Then he began kissing me.
"All right, all right. As much as I'm enjoying this I have some baking to do," I said as I pulled away from him.
"Can I help?" he asked.
"Sure, you can stir everything and I need you to measure the flour," I said.
"All right," he agreed.
I took out the chocolate chips and began reading the directions on the back. I went and got some of the ingredients. Then I turned around to see what else I needed and noticed the bag was gone. Kevin was quietly trying to open it.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" I asked.
"Nothing," he said innocently.
"If you eat all of them we can't make the cookies," I said as I took the bag away from him.
"Just a few please," he begged.
"Oh okay," I said. I poured some into his hand.
"That's it," I said.
"Okay," he said.
"Now I need you to get one and three-fourths cup of flour," I said.
"Okay," he said as he went and got the flour.
While he did that I got the eggs and vanilla.
Kevin measured the flour and then walked over to the bowl to dump it in.
Just as I turned, I ran into Kevin causing flour to fly everywhere.
"Aah!" I screamed.
Kevin began to laugh at me. "You're covered in flour."
I looked down at myself noticing the flour covering all my clothes. Kevin came up to me and brushed it out of my hair.
"And in my hair?" I questioned.
"Yep," he said smiling.
"Thanks Mr. Richardson. Last time I cook with you," I said jokingly.
"I think I'll just stick to stirring the ingredients," he said.
"Um, yeah. That's a good idea," I said smiling at him.
I went upstairs, changed clothes, and put my hair into a bun. Then I went back into the kitchen. I threw all of the ingredients into the bowl while Kevin stirred. Then we placed the dough on cookie sheets. I put them into the oven and set the timer.
Kevin came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me. Then he rested his chin on top of my head.
"I love you," Kevin said.
"I love you too," I said.
Then I began to wash the dishes. Kevin sat at the table eating the cookie dough.
"Boo! Stop eatin' that!" I said as I laughed.
He smiled as he licked the spoon.
"Just like a little kid gettin' into everything," I said as I walked over to him.
"Yep, that's me," he said.
I kissed him and then took the dough and made more cookies.
By the time we were finished, the both of us had eaten at least six cookies. Then Kevin and I sat down to watch t.v.. After a while we went to bed.
I kissed Kevin and then rested my head on his chest.
Kevin held Janel tightly as he closed his eyes.
Every time she touched him or kissed him his heart ached. He felt so guilty. He loved her so much. How could he have betrayed her love?
Eventually Kevin fell asleep. But he woke up a couple of times. His mind always went to Ariana and what happened. It seemed to torture him throughout the night.
He couldn't handle it any longer, so he got up. He just needed to clear his mind. So he sat down at the piano. He gently placed his fingers on the keys and began to lightly play.
I woke up in the middle of the night and turned to snuggle up to Kevin, but he wasn't there. Then I heard the piano.
I got up and walked to where Kevin was. I stood in the doorway as I watched Kevin play.
Then I walked up to him and placed my arms around his neck.
"Hey baby," Kevin said as he kissed my hand. "Sorry if I woke you."
"No, it's okay," I said as I sat down on the bench next to him.
He just sat there and stared at me.
"Kevin, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing," Kevin lied.
"Kevin," I said.
"Nothing. Don't worry," he said as he kissed my forehead.
I knew he was lying to me. I could hear it in his tone of voice.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yeah, go back to bed," he said.
"All right," I said. I figured he would tell me what was wrong when he wanted.
I left the room and laid back down in bed. Kevin rested his head on the piano. Then he quietly began to cry.
