Chapter 69

There was only a week and a half left before the tour was over with which was a relief to Kevin.

He sat down on his bed watching t.v..

Knock! Knock!

"Coming!" yelled Kevin.

He got up to answer the door. Once he opened it he saw Nick standing there with his PlayStation and games.

"Want to play?" Nick asked.

"Sure. Come on in," Kevin said as he helped Nick carry his games.

"The rest of the guys went out to some club, so I'm stuck here," Nick said as he began to set up the game.

"Don't worry Nick, soon you'll be able to go just a little while longer," Kevin said as he picked up the control.

"I can't wait," Nick said as they began to play.

For the next two hours they were silent as they concentrated on playing. Every once in a while they would yell if they died. Or sometimes they would talk trash about each other's player, but most of the time they kept their attention on winning.

After a while they eventually began to get bored.

"Okay, enough with that," Kevin said as he shut the t.v. off.

"Yeah, my eyes are beginning to hurt," Nick said.

Kevin agreed with him. "Actually I'm kind of hungry. Want to go to Taco Bell?"

"Yes, please. I'm starving," Nick said as he got up.

The two of them walked out and got into a car. It was 12 o'clock at night and Kevin pulled into Taco Bell's parking lot.

They walked in and ordered their food. Once they got their food they sat down in a booth in the back.

"So what are you going to do once the tour is over with?" Nick asked.

"Find Janel," Kevin said.

"Where though?" Nick asked.

"Rick's," Kevin replied.

"Who's Rick?" Nick asked.

"A good friend of hers back in New York," Kevin said.

"Oh. But how do you know she's there?" Nick asked.

"I don't. But I've talked to Lauren and she said that's the only place she could have gone, if she's not back in Kentucky," he said.

"Have you talked to him?" Nick asked.

"No, but Lauren has. He says that he hasn't heard from Janel in a long time," Kevin said.

"But?" Nick questioned.

"He could just be lying. He'd do anything for Janel," Kevin said.

"They're that close?" Nick inquired.

"Yeah, they used to date," Kevin said uneasily.

"Oh. Are you worried about her?" Nick asked.

"No, not really. Because if she is with him, I know she'll be taken care of. And as for them getting together. . .," Kevin began. "Well, I'd rather not think about it."

"It's okay. I'm sure she still loves you," Nick said.

"I don't know Nicky. I still hate myself for what I did," Kevin said.

"But if you still love each other then there's a definite chance for you two," Nick said.

"God I hope she still loves me because I need her in my life. But right now I'd just be happy to know that she's okay somewhere," Kevin said.

"You only have about ten more days and then you'll know," Nick said.

"Yeah," Kevin said as he sighed.

I got up in the morning and got ready for work. Then I stood in front of the mirror. I placed my hand on my stomach as I noticed that I was beginning to show.

As much as I wanted to forget Kevin, I couldn't. I had this baby to remind me everyday of what I once had. But never once did I regret being pregnant. I just wished the morning sickness would go away soon.

I locked up my house and then left. Actually I was living in Rick's town house. He also let me borrow his car. I told him I could just take the bus, but he refused.

I got to Target and prepared for a busy day at work. I had started a couple weeks ago so I was just getting to know everyone. But I had made one friend, her name was Char. She was twenty-one and she had been working there for a couple of years. So she filled me in on everything, including the gossip. I kept to myself and did my work. But I would usually sit with Char on my breaks.

My day went by pretty quickly and soon it was time for me to leave. I told Char good bye and then drove home. I had been home no longer than five minutes and my phone was ringing.

"Hi Rick," I said as I picked it up.

"Hi. How did you know it was me?"

"Because you always call me when I get home from work."

"Just want to make sure you're okay."

"I am, don't worry. If I need you, I'll call you."

"Okay good."

Rick had called me everyday I came home from work. And he stopped by almost every day just to make sure I was okay. He wanted to know if I was eating right and if I was still getting sick.
