Chapter 87

I walked into Target for my last day of work.

"Hey Char," I said as I walked up to her.

"Hey girl," she said. "What's up?"

"Nothin' much," I said. "I just wanted to talk to you."

"About?" she asked.

"Today's my last day," I said.

"What?!" Char exclaimed.

"I gave my two week notice already, and today's my last day," I said.

"You're just going to leave me here?" she questioned.

"Sorry, but it's time for me to go back home," I said.

"Yeah, with that sexy man of yours," she said, pretending to be jealous.

"Hey!" I said as I lightly punched her in the arm.

"Just kidding," she said as she smiled at me.

"Yeah, you better be," I said.

She laughed. "At least I have Rick."

"Yep, he's all yours. And that's what I wanted to talk to you about," I said.

"Rick?" she questioned.

"Yeah, I'd like to go out with you guys tonight. But of course I'm bringing Kevin with me," I said.

She smiled. "I'm sure you two can't stand to be separated."

"Nope," I said. "But on the other hand, Rick and Kevin can't stand to be together."

"Oh, I see," she said.

"Yeah, so if you could do me a favor and just tell Rick that I would like to go out with you guys, and not mention Kevin," I said.

"Sure, no problem," she said smiling.

"Good, and then I'll just tell Kevin that I want to have dinner with you," I said. "That way we can save ourselves from their whining."

"Yeah, and then they'll have to behave since we're in public," she said.

"I hope," I said.

We continued to talk about where we were going to meet and at what time. Then both of us got back to work.

After a busy day at work I left for the last time.

When I got home Kevin was sitting at the table writing with his headphones on. I went up behind him and wrapped my arms around his neck. I leaned down and kissed him on the cheek.

He took his headphones off and then pulled me in front of him. He rested his head on my stomach. Then he began talking to the babies.

"Hi my babies," he said. "How was your day?"

I smiled as I watched him have a full conversation with the babies.

"I love you guys," he said as he kissed my stomach.

Then he stood up and picked me up.

"Kevin, what are you doing?" I asked as he walked down the hall carrying me in his arms.

We went into my room and he laid me down on the bed. Then he laid down next to me.

"I just want to be close to my baby," he said as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Oh okay," I said as I held his hand, intertwining our fingers.

Then he began to place soft kisses on the back of my neck. He placed lightly kisses on me as he made a trail of kisses down to the crook of my neck.

Then he turned me towards him and kissed my forehead. I laid there enjoying his soft lips on my skin. When I felt his lips on mine, I pulled him close to me wanting his lips to stay on mine. He pulled my body close to his as we began to kiss more passionately.

After out little make out session, I laid there in his arms listening to his heart beat.

"The doctor called," Kevin said.

"What'd they have to say?" I asked.

"They just wanted to let us know that the results are in, and to confirm your appointment for tomorrow," Kevin explained.

"Oh okay," I said.

"So how was your last day of work?" he asked.

"It was okay. I'm not really going to miss it, I'll just miss working with Char," I said.

"Oh yeah, she seemed really nice," Kevin said.

"She is. And I thought maybe we could go out to dinner with her tonight," I suggested.

"Sure, sounds great. When?" he asked.

"In a few hours," I replied.

"Will we have to pick her up?" he asked.

"No, she said that she'll go home and change and then meet us at the restaurant since she's so close," I said.

"Oh okay," Kevin said.

Char got off work and then headed over to Rick's place.

"Hi Char," Rick said as he opened the door and pulled Char into his arms.

She hugged him and then kissed him.

"Hey," she said.

"Come in," he said as he closed the door.

"Thanks," she said.

"So did you just get off of work?" he asked as he looked at her clothes.

"Yeah. I just came by to ask you if you wanted to go out to dinner," Char answered.

"When?" he asked.

"In about an hour and a half," Char said. "Janel is supposed to meet us there."

"She is?" he asked.

"Yeah, she said that she wanted to talk to us," Char said.

"Oh really," he said. "So we don't have to pick her up or anything?"

"Uh, no. She said she's just going to meet us there," Char said.

"Okay, that's fine," Rick said.

Char leaned forward and kissed Rick.

"I'll see you in a while," she said.

"Okay, I'll pick you up in about an hour," he said.

"Bye," she said.

He gave her another quick kiss before he let her out the door.

Kevin and I got dressed and then headed out the door.

"Where to?" Kevin asked.

"Murphy's," I replied.

"Oh, good food," Kevin said.

"Yeah, I know," I said smiling at him. "We're hungry," I said as I placed my hand on my stomach.

Rick and Char walked into Murphy's holding hands. They went up to the front to be seated.

"Hi, we have reservations," Char said. "They should be under Char Patterson."

The lady looked at the book and nodded. "Right this way."

Rick and Char we're seated in a private booth.

"Would you like to order an appetizer?" the waitress asked.

"Yes, please," Char said.

The waitress took their order and then left them alone.

"I know Janel's going to want to eat when she gets here," Char said smiling. "That girl is always munchin' on something."

Rick laughed. "Is she taking care of herself?"

"Yeah, she seems to be," Char said.

"That's good to hear," Rick said.

Kevin and I walked in and went to the front desk.

"My friend, Char Patterson, has reservations here," I said.

"Yes, she has arrived. Follow me."

We followed the waiter to a booth in the back.

I smiled as I saw Char. She got up and hugged me.

Both Kevin and Rick stood there staring at each other.

Then at the same time they said, "You never said that he was coming!"
