Chapter 88

I ignored their comment and gave Rick a hug. "Nice to see you again."

"You too," Rick said.

Char walked up to Kevin and gave him a quick hug. "Hi again."

"Hi," he said.

Then we sat down in the booth.

"How come you didn't tell me we would be meeting Rick here also?" Kevin questioned annoyed.

"Yeah, you never said anything about meeting Janel and Kevin," Rick said as he looked at Char.

"Oops," she said as she smiled at him innocently.

"You knew he was coming, huh?" Rick asked.

"I told her not to tell you," I said.

"Why not?" Rick asked.

"Cause if we would have told you guys, we would have had to listen to you two complain," I said. "And I didn't want to hear it, and I know that Char didn't want to either."

"I wouldn't have complained," Kevin said. "I just wouldn't have come."

I punched him in the arm.

"Neither would have I," Rick said.

"You know if I could reach you, I'd hit you also," I said.

"Hey, well at least you guys agree to dislike each other," Char said.

"That's the only thing we agree on," Kevin said.

Rick nodded his head.

"Will you two quit acting like children and start acting like grown men," I said angrily.

They just glared at each other.

"Well?" I asked.

Kevin turned to me and kissed me on the forehead. "Sorry."

"You just apologized so you wouldn't be sleeping alone tonight!" Rick exclaimed.

"Fuck you," Kevin said angrily.

"Nope, I've had better offers," Rick said childishly.

"You two are so unbelievably immature," I said as I stood up.

Then I stormed off to the rest room.

Char quickly got up and followed Janel to the rest room.

"Look what you did," Kevin said angrily.

"Me?" Rick asked incredulously.

"Yeah, you," Kevin said.

"This wouldn't have happened if I didn't hate you so much. And I wouldn't hate you so much, if you wouldn't have been such an ass hole and hurt her," Rick said furiously.

"Why can't you understand that that's our business, NOT yours," Kevin said, raising his voice.

"Because it became my business the instant she came running to me," Rick said.

"Well she's no longer running to you, she's with ME," Kevin said. "So keep your ass out of this."

"Nope, not going to happen Kevin," Rick said snottily. "I was there for her when you weren't and I'll still be here for her whether you're apart of her life or not."

"I have always been apart of her life, and I will still continue to be apart of her life forever," Kevin said, sure of himself.

"Yeah, well you weren't there to kiss her tears away when she found out she was pregnant," Rick said.

"You kissed her?" Kevin questioned angrily.

'Yes, I did. And it wasn't just a soft little kiss. No, it was full of passion," Rick said.

Kevin's face began to turn red from anger. "You bastard. I swear if you ever touch her again like that, I'll. . ."

"Don't you even threaten me Kevin. Because I should be the one kicking your ass right now for hurting her. I told you to take care of her and you didn't!" Rick yelled.

"Come on then," Kevin said. "Go ahead and try."

"With pleasure," Rick said.

Char walked into the bathroom. "Janel?"

I wiped my eyes and then walked out of the stall.

"Sweetie, are you okay?" she asked as she came and gave me a hug.

"No," I said as I began to cry again. "I'm slightly emotional, due to these little guys. And those two big guys out there are fighting."

"Little guys? Two of them?" she asked excitedly.

I shook my head yes, smiling at her. "That's what I wanted to tell you and Rick. I'm having twins."

"Oh congratulations!" she exclaimed as she hugged me again.

"Thanks," I said as she let go.

Then she sighed. "I can't believe those two."

"I knew this would happen," I said. "But I was hoping that they would just forget how much they disliked each other, just for this evening. So I could have a nice dinner with my friends."

"I'm sorry," she said.

"For what?" I asked.

"For any damage that I made do to our boyfriends," she said.

I smiled at her.

"I'll TRY and talk some sense into them. But if that doesn't work, I'll beat it into them," she said.

"Sounds good to me," I said.

"Good cause I'd like to smack them upside the head," she said as she took my hand, leading me out of the bathroom.

Char and I walked up to our table where the guys were angrily glaring at each other. They looked as though they were about to attack each other.

"Go on Rick, hit me," Kevin said, antagonizing him.

"If either one of you touch each other, both of you will be heading home alone. Janel and I will leave the instant you guys lay a hand on each other," Char stated. "Understood?"

Neither one of them said a word. They just stared at Char.

"Is that understood?" Char asked again.

"Yes," Rick said quietly.

She looked at Kevin expectantly.

"I understand," he said.

"Good. Now I think that the three of us need to talk," Char said. "Come on let's go outside for a few minutes."

Both guys got up and stood next to her. They looked afraid that she might hit them.

"Go ahead and sit down sweetie, the guys and I will be back soon," she said.

I sat down and smiled at her. I knew she was going to chew their butts out.

"The appetizer should be here soon," she said.

"Okay, thanks," I said.

Then she and the guys went outside.

"Are you two through acting like 8 year olds?" Char asked angrily.

Neither of them said a word.

"I never expected you two to act like that. She told me that you guys couldn't stand to be together, but I just thought you guys would perhaps forget and act like gentlemen."

"Well. . .," Rick began.

"Ssh, I'm not finished," Char said as she put her hand up.

Rick looked at her and then closed his mouth.

"All she wanted was to have a nice dinner with the ones she loves," Char said. "But you two idiots have to go and ruin that for her."

Both Rick and Kevin began to feel bad for the way they had acted.

"And Kevin, you know that her pregnancy is beginning to make her a emotional," Char said.

"I know," Kevin said quietly.

"Now I'd like for all of us to go back in there and enjoy this little get together, but first you two need to figure out your guys' problem," she said.

"I don't like him," they responded.

"Ugh," she said, frustrated with both of them. "That's not it!"

"Yes it is," they said.

"No, it's not," she said. "It's obvious what the problem is."

"What?" they asked.

"You both love her," she said.

They looked at each other, knowing she was right.

"You're right," Rick said. "I'm sorry Char."

"There's no need to apologize to me. I know that you and Janel have a different relationship than you and I," she said.

He shook his head agreeing.

"Okay, now what I don't understand is that if you two love her so much, then why do you keep hurting her?" she asked.

"I haven't hurt her," Rick protested. "Unlike him."

"Yes Rick, you have. She just wanted you to accept her and Kevin, but instead you let your feelings get the best of you," she said looking at him.

"And you," she said as she turned to Kevin. "You're so worried about Rick and her, that you don't even realize that you have her. She's completely yours, and all she wants is you."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Kevin said.

"No, I know I'm right," Char said. "She loves both of you, but just in different ways. Now for her sake, why can't you just forget about yourselves and your feelings and concentrate on her."

Both of them nodded their heads.

"I'm not asking you two to be friends, or even like each other. I just want you guys to be civil. Okay? Do you guys think you can do that?" she asked.

"For Janel, yes," Rick replied.

"Anything for my baby," Kevin said.

"Thank you," Char said. "Now we better get back in there before she thinks that I killed you two," Char said, smiling to herself.

"I'm sure you thought about it," Kevin muttered.

"I was sure that she was going to," Rick said quietly.

Kevin nodded, agreeing with him.

I sat there eating the onion blossom and drinking my water. If they wanted any of this than they had better get back quickly cause I had already devoured about half of it.

Then I saw them walking towards me. Char was just smiling. She got to the table and slid into the booth. Rick sat next to her and Kevin sat next to me.

Kevin leaned forward and kissed the top of my head.

"I'm sorry Pumpkin. I know that you love me and you're staying with me. But I just can't help but get jealous whenever Rick is around because I know that I could have lost you to him," Kevin said.

"Yeah, and I'm also sorry Janel. You know the only reason I get the way I do is around Kevin is because he hurt you. I know that all we'll ever be is friends, but as a friend I'm going to want to protect you," he said. "We understand why we act like such asses sometimes, okay we'll most of the time."

"Why is that?" I asked.

"Because we both love you," Kevin said.

"And I love both of you," I said.

"So do you forgive us?" Rick asked.

Him and Kevin we're both giving me their puppy dog faces.

"Of course," I said.

They both smiled.

"Dang girl!" Char exclaimed.

"What?" I asked.

"Hungry much?" she asked as she looked at the onion blossom.

I smiled. "Hey, I'm pregnant. I'm allowed to eat like a pig."

Rick chuckled. "So how are you and the baby?"

"Actually, Kevin and I have some news about me and the baby," I said happily.

"Really?" Rick asked.

"Uh huh," I said, smiling. "I'm carrying twins!"

"Oh wow! That's wonderful you guys," he said. "I'm so happy for you. Both of you."

"Thanks," Kevin said.

"So are you having little boys or girls?" Rick asked.

"Well we don't know yet," I said.

"Yeah, we'll know in a few days," Kevin said.

"Well then you'll have to come over," Rick said happily.

I looked at Kevin, knowing that Rick would be upset with what I had to tell him next.

But first the waiter came and took our orders. Then he left.

"Uh Rick, we're not going to be able to do that," I said.

"Do what?" he asked.

"Go over," I said.

"Why not?" he asked.

"Because Kevin and I are leaving for Florida this Saturday," I said.

His smile faded. "Oh, well I knew that you'd go back sometime."

"I'm sorry Rick," I said.

"No, don't be sorry sweetie. I'm happy that you'll be at home," he said. "But Char and I will definitely miss you."

"That's for sure," Char said. "Now who I am going to tell all my gossip to?"

I smiled at her. "I guess you'll be calling a lot then, right?"

"You know it," she said.

"And you'll make sure to call us as soon as you find out if you're having little boys or girls. All right?" Rick asked.

"We will," I said. "I promise."

"Good," he said.

Soon our food came and we finished the evening talking and actually enjoying each other's company.

Once it got late, we paid the waiter and then walked out to our cars.

"Rick, can I ask a you a favor," I said.

"Sure," he said.

"On Saturday, will you drop Kevin and I off at the airport?" I asked.

"Yes, of course," he said.

"Thanks," I said as I hugged him.

Then I hugged Char. "Thanks for your help."

"It was no problem," she said.

Kevin stood in front of Rick, extending his hand to shake.

"Rick," he said.

"Kevin," Rick said as he shook Kevin's hand.

That's all that was said between them. Just each other's name. With that said, they knew that they still disliked each other. But they were going to stop acting so immature about it.

Then Char hugged Kevin. "Sorry for yelling at you."

"It's okay," Kevin said. "I know you were just looking out for your friend."

"That's right," she said as she let go.

"We'll see you guys Saturday," Kevin said as we waved good bye.

Then Kevin came to the passenger's side and helped me in. He closed the door and got in on his side.

"Boo," I said as he started the car.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"I love you," I said.

He turned to me and smiled. "Always and forever."
