Chapter 30

"Okay Dad, I'm ready!" I yelled as I stood by the door.

"One second Lily! I just have to find my sunglasses and hat!" my dad yelled.

"I have them!" I yelled back as I waited for my dad.

Then I watched as he came running down the stairs.

"You're more prepared than I am," my dad said as we walked out the door.

"Nope. I just know that anytime we go out, you have to wear these to slightly disguise yourself," I said.

"Yeah, unfortunately," my dad said as we got into his 4-Runner.

I turned the radio on and my Uncle Alex's voice came blaring through the radio.

My dad quickly changed the station to an alternative radio station.

"It's all about the he said she said bullshit!" screamed the radio.

He looked at me and then quickly changed the station.

I laughed at my dad. "Are you not a fan of Limp Bizkit?"

"It doesn't matter if I am, I don't think you should be listening to it," my dad said.

I laughed again. "Come on, like I haven't heard worse at school."

"I don't even want to know what you've heard at school," my dad said. "Besides, how are you a fan of Limp Bizkit?"

"I'm not really," I said. "But I know some of their songs because Jaclyn used to listen to their CD all the time."

"Oh," my dad replied.

"Don't worry Dad, I'm not going to start listening to that," I said.

"Okay, good," my dad said. "So have you ever been to Disney Land or Disney World?"

"No. Joanne and Alan had promised to take me, but they never had the money, so we didn't go," I said.

"Oh," my dad said. "Well we're going to Disney World to spend some money."

"Can I get one of those princess tiaras?" I asked, excitedly.

"Sure, anything you want," he said.

"Thank you Daddy," I said.

"You're welcome sweetie," he said.

We pulled into the parking lot and got down. We walked in and I stood there staring in awe.

"Wow!" I said, as I looked around at all the attractions. "There's so much more than they show on TV."

"Yep," my dad said. "And we have the whole day to go on every single ride."

"Cool," I said.

Then my dad grabbed my hand and we began walking. "But first we'll take a look around. And anytime you see something that you want to go on, just let me know."

"Okay," I said as we began to walk further in the park.

I smiled as we walked around and saw other parents with their kids. You could see the excitement in everyone's faces. I finally felt like I belonged with someone, with my dad, as I looked up at him.

"Is something wrong Lily?" my dad asked.

I shook my head no. "Everything's just fine."

"Okay, good," my dad said.

We continued walking until I spotted the sign for the Indiana Jones ride.

"Can we go on that?" I asked as I pointed towards the sign.

"Sure," he said.

The rest of the day we spent riding anything that we could. And whenever someone passed us with some delicious food, we took a break and went to eat. We also began a collection of stuffed animals and I got the purple princess tiara that I had wanted.

"Oh look it's Aladdin!" I exclaimed.

My dad just laughed.

"Come on, don't you want to see who it is," I said as I dragged him towards Aladdin.

"I guess," my dad said.

We waited for all the little kids to leave, then my dad walked up to him.

I gave him a piece of paper to sign, while my dad stood there studying him.

"Sam?" he asked.

The Aladdin looked up at my dad.

"Kevin?" he asked.

"Yeah," my dad said.

Then they hugged each other. "Well, how are you?"

"Pretty good," my dad said. "And you?"

"I'm good," he said. "And who is this young lady?"

"This is my daughter, Lily," my dad replied.

"Hi Lily, it's nice to meet you," he said. "My name's Sam."

"Hi Sam," I said as I shook his hand.

Then my dad laughed.

"What?" Sam asked.

"I can't believe you still work here," my dad said.

"Hey! Some of us haven't become millionaires yet so we still have to work hard," he said. "Besides, you had this job too."

"Yeah, I know. It's just that I remember when you were Prince Charming and all the fairies used to hang around you," my dad said.

Sam laughed. "Yeah, that was terrible. They thought cause we were part of the same movie that we had to always be together."

"But now you finally get to be Aladdin like you wanted," my dad said.

"Hey, I could have had this job a long time ago if you hadn't shown up. Oh yeah, and if Jasmine wasn't such a bi...brat," he said.

"I didn't have a problem with her," my dad said.

Sam looked at me and smiled. "Of course she didn't, cause she along with every other girl had a huge crush on you."

"They did not," my dad denied.

"Lily, your dad's lying. I was there; I know they all liked him. They used to talk about him all the time, "Oh Kevin, he's so cute. I wish I could be Jasmine". It was terrible cause I used to have to listen to them talk about it all the time, especially Sleeping Beauty," he said.

I looked at my dad and giggled as he began to blush.

They continued to talk about the old days, until a lot of little kids began bugging for Aladdin's autograph. So we told him goodbye and continued our mission of riding every single ride in the theme park.

"Well are you ready to go now that we have been on every ride?" my dad asked.

"Yeah," I said. "I don't think I can handle any more spinning."

My dad smiled. "Or any more screaming?"

"That too," I said.

Then we walked out of Disney World to the 4-Runner. My dad and I threw all of the stuffed animals and any other Disney souvenirs that we bought into the back. Then we hopped into the truck and drove off.

"Here's the keys," my dad said as he handed them to me. "You go open the door, while I get the stuff out of the back."

"Okay," I said as I took them.

We got out and I walked up to the house. I unlocked the door and walked in. I heard the phone ringing and went over to answer it.

"Hello," I said.

There was no response on the other end.

"Hello," I said, again.

Then I heard the dial tone.

I looked at the phone, and then hung up.

"Who was it?" my dad asked, as he walked passed me with bags in his hands.

"I don't know. They didn't say anything, they just hung up," I said as I helped my dad.

I took a couple of the bags and we walked upstairs to put them in my room.

Kristin set the phone back down on the receiver.

She had tried so many times to call Kevin, so they could talk, but she always hung up before it began to ring. She would dial the last number and then hang up, losing her nerve to talk to him. But this time she had actually let it ring and if he answered she was going to talk to him, she had promised herself that. But he didn't answer, his daughter did.

Kristin was hoping to talk to Kevin so that he would just tell her that he didn't really have a daughter, so that way when she went home it would just be him and her, no one else. But when his daughter answered the phone, she knew that the reality was that he did have a daughter. Until she heard her voice, Kristin still didn't believe Kevin completely.

Now Kristin had to decide what she was going to do. What she wanted to do was convince Kevin that now wasn't the best time for him to get custody of his daughter. That he would be able to do it later, after they got married, possibly after their first anniversary. She knew that was selfish of her, but she wanted Kevin to herself. Everyone else always had his attention, the group, the fans, the media, management, everyone but her. And now she finally had her chance have him all to herself, until his daughter came along. But Kristin wasn't going to let one little girl stop her from having Kevin. Somehow she would convince Kevin that he wanted her more than he did his daughter.

My dad and I lay on my bed with the stuffed animals surrounding us.

"Did you have fun?" my dad asked.

"Yeah, this was one of my best days ever," I said.

"Good, cause I had fun too," my dad said.

"Thank you for taking me," I said.

"You're welcome sweetheart," my dad said.

I rested my head on my dad's shoulder as we began to go to sleep. Both of us were extremely tired from walking around the entire day.

Just as we were about to fall into a deep sleep the phone rang.

I sat up and my dad got up and answered it. "Hello."

"Hey Kev, did I leave NBA 2000 over there?"

"Nick, you called for that?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Cause Lily and I were just about asleep."

"Asleep?"

"Yeah, we spent the day at Disney World."

"Oh, sorry. But do you have my game? Brian and I want to play it right now."

"Yeah, I think we have it. I'll drop it off in a few minutes."

"That's okay, I can pick it up."

"No, I'll drop it off."

"All right, see you then. Bye."

"Bye," he said, and then hung up.

"Uncle Nicky?" I asked.

"Yep, he left one of his video games over here. Do you want to go with me to drop it off?" my dad asked.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Okay, then let's go," my dad said.

We went downstairs, found the game, and then left.

"Hi Lily!" my Uncle Nick exclaimed as he gave me a hug.

"Hi Uncle Nicky," I said.

We walked in and my dad handed Nick his game.

"Where's Brian?" my dad asked.

"He's outside shooting some hoops," Nick said.

"Can I go say hi?" I asked.

"Sure, go ahead," Nick said.

I went to the back door and went outside.

"Hey Lily! What's up?" my Uncle Brian asked as he shot the basketball into the hoop.

"Nothin' much," I said.

"Your dad here?" he asked.

"Yeah, he's inside with Uncle Nicky," I said.

"Oh okay," he said. Then he walked over to me and gave me a hug. "So do you want to shoot some hoops with me?"

"Sure," I said.

"Want to play horse?" he asked.

I smiled. "Can we play elephant?"

"Elephant?" he asked, confused.

"When I used to play this with Alan, we'd play elephant so that way there were more letters and I wouldn't lose as quickly," I said.

He laughed. "All right, elephant it is."

"Do you want a drink Kev?" Nick asked.

"No, thanks," Kevin replied.

"Well then let's go out there and see what those two are up to," Nick said.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" Kevin asked.

"Sure, what's up?" Nick asked as they sat down on the couch.

"Well in about 2 weeks Kristin is coming home," Kevin said. "And I want to take her out to dinner, and then just talk things over. But I don't want Lily to come with us."

"Yeah, that would be a bad idea," Nick said.

"So I was wondering if maybe she could stay the night here?" Kevin asked.

"In 2 weeks?" Nick asked.

"Yeah," Kevin said.

"Actually Aaron and Angel will be down here," Nick said.

"Oh, well then I can ask one of the other guys," Kevin said. "I just figured I'd ask you because she's closest to you since you were there from the beginning."

"No, that's okay. I'd love for her to stay here. I was just saying that then she can meet Aaron and Angel, maybe new friends," Nick said. "It'll be fun having all 3 of them here."

"Are you sure?" Kevin asked.

"Yeah, don't worry it'll be fine," Nick said.

"Okay good," Kevin said. "Thank you so much."

"No problem," Nick said. "So what did Lily have to say about Kristin coming in?"

"Well. . .I haven't exactly told her yet. I haven't even talked to Kristin," Kevin said.

"What?" Nick asked.

"I wanted to make sure I had a place of Lily to stay, and then worry about the rest," Kevin said.

"So how do you plan on going out with Kristin if you haven't talked to her?" Nick asked.

"I'm going to pick her up from the airport," Kevin said.

"Oh okay," Nick said. "So when do you plan on telling Lily?"

"I don't know," Kevin replied.

"Well you better tell her soon," Nick said.

"I know. I'm just scared of her reaction," Kevin said.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine," Nick said.

"I hope so," Kevin said.
