Chapter 47
A month later
I walked downstairs with the portable phone attached to my ear.
"Dad!" I yelled.
As I walked through the kitchen I continued to yell, "Dad!"
"Is he there?" asked Angel.
"No, I can't find him," I said.
"Dad!" I yelled again as I neared his office.
He then quickly came out. "Lily, stop yelling."
"Sorry," I said.
"We have company, you know better," he snapped.
I looked passed him and into his office where Kristin was talking to the wedding planner.
"But I have a question. Can…?" I began.
"Your question can wait. Right now I'm busy discussing more important things," my dad said. Then he turned and went back into the office, closing the door behind him.
I stood there stunned, he had never really been mad at me before.
"What'd he say?" asked Angel.
"Huh?" I said, remembering that Angel was still on the phone.
"What'd he say?" repeated Angel.
"Oh, um…he didn't give me a chance to ask," I said as I walked towards the stairs.
"You have to come," Angel said. "We're leaving really soon."
"I know. I want to see Enrique Iglesias in concert so bad," I said.
"Yeah, and there's going to be plenty more hotties," Angel said.
I laughed. "Is that the only reason you want to go?"
"No, they're going to have good music, the hot guys are just a plus," she said.
"Oh, gotcha," I said.
Then I heard Nick yell in the background. "Is Lily coming?"
"Uh…yeah!" answered Angel.
"Okay. Well get off the phone so we can go," Nick said. "Mom is dropping off Aaron here in a couple of minutes."
"Okay," Angel said. Then Nick left.
"Angel!" I exclaimed. "Why did you tell him that I'm going?"
"Cause you are," she said.
"But my dad," I said.
"Don't worry, just write him a note or something. We'll pick you up in 10 minutes, be ready," she said.
"Uh, okay," I said.
"See ya soon," she said.
"Bye," I said before I hung up the phone.
Then I grabbed my bag and began throwing things into it, compact, wallet, sunglasses, chap stick, hair tie…and anything else necessary.
Uncle Nicky had surprised Aaron and Angel with tickets to an all day concert festival and one just for me too. So along with the four of us, Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh were also coming.
A few minutes later, I looked out the window and saw Nick's truck. I quickly grabbed my keys and ran downstairs. I placed a little note on the kitchen table and went out the door.
"Hey Lily," Uncle Nick said as I got into his truck.
"Hi Nicky," I said.
Angel, who was sitting in the front, turned and smiled at me.
"Did you bring your camera?" she asked.
"Of course," I said happily.
"For all the hot guys, huh?" questioned Angel, while giggling.
I laughed. "The only reason."
"Hey, there will be none of that," Nick said.
"Yeah," agreed Aaron, who was sitting next to me.
Both Angel and I just smiled.
Soon we arrived at Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh's house. They came out and got into their car, following behind us as we drove to the concert.
The entire ride to the concert Angel, Aaron, and I talked. All three of us were talking as fast as we could, trying to catch up, since Aaron and Angel had gone on a two day vacation.
"We're here!" yelled Nick, interrupting our talking.
We looked at him, got out, and then continued talking.
"All right, that's it. Only one person is allowed to talk at a time," Nick said.
"Why? Cause you can't catch all the gossip?" Aaron asked, smiling.
"Of course," Nick said. "How am I supposed to be nosy when all three of you talk at one time?"
We all laughed. "We'll try and slow down for you. We forgot that you're a little slower," said Angel.
"Hey!" Nick exclaimed.
"Just kidding," Angel said, smiling.
Then Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh walked up to us.
"Hey kiddos!" Brian said.
"Hi Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh," I said as I hugged both of them with Angel and Aaron right behind me.
"All right, let's go inside," Nick said.
We all followed him as he led the way. They then took our tickets and allowed us to enter. Once we did, we were led to a reserved spot in the front.
Nick laid the blanket on the grass while Brian set the cooler down.
"Can we go explore?" we asked as we saw all the activities going on around us.
"Only if someone goes with," Nick said. "And it's not going to be me."
"Please," we whined.
"I'll take you," Leighanne said.
"Cool, let's go," Aaron said as Angel and I grabbed Aunt Leigh's hand, pulling her along.
Uncle Brian gave her a quick kiss and then we were gone.
Kevin's House
An hour later, Kevin and Kristin were finally telling the wedding planner goodbye.
He sighed as he rested his head on Kristin's shoulder as they sat on the couch together.
"What's the matter, Kev?" Kristin asked.
"Just so much work to get this wedding together and so that no one will know about it. Plus, finding the time to actually get married, we still haven't set a date," Kevin said.
"Don't worry babe. Everything will work out fine," Kristin said. "And we'll figure out a date, we'll talk to management and get it sorted out."
"Yeah, I guess," Kevin said.
"Kev, it'll be fine, I promise," Kristin said as she ran her fingers through Kevin's hair.
"It's just that I want you to have the perfect wedding," Kevin said. "And I know that it's going to be difficult to get it how you want it."
"Let me worry about that, Kev," Kristin said. "There's no need to stress over this. I can handle it."
"Well I don't want you to take all the responsibility," Kevin said.
Kristin smiled. "Kev, you know that I can handle it."
"But…" Kevin began.
"But if I need your help, I'll let you know," Kristin said.
"All right, fine," Kevin said reluctantly.
Kristin bent down and kissed Kevin on his head. "I love you babe."
"I love you too," Kevin said.
Then they sat there a while in silence, enjoying their relaxing together.
"So Kev, what did Lily want earlier?" Kristin asked.
"I don't know, I told her I was busy," Kevin said. "And then I shut the door."
"You shut the door on her?" Kristin asked.
"Yeah, I didn't mean to do that, but I was stressed at the moment and so I snapped at her," Kevin explained.
"Where is she?" Kristin asked.
"Upstairs I guess," Kevin said. "I guess I better go talk to her and see what she needed, and apologize."
"Yes, you should," Kristin said.
Kevin sat up and kissed her and then headed upstairs. Once he arrived at Lily's door, he knocked and then entered.
He opened the door and looked around, noticing that she wasn't in her room. "Lily?"
He stood there puzzled and then walked out. He went down the hall checking all the rooms.
"Lily?" he called again.
There was no answer.
So he went downstairs to check all the rooms there and even in his studio, but she wasn't there.
He walked through the living room and passed Kristin to the back door.
"Did you find her?" asked Kristin.
"Uh…not yet," Kevin said as he began to panic just a bit.
Then he went outside and checked in the backyard, calling for her. Once he realized that she wasn't out back he went back inside to Kristin.
"She's not out there," Kevin said worriedly.
"You checked everywhere?" Kristin asked.
"Yes, everywhere," Kevin said, as his heartbeat began beating faster.
"Lily!" yelled Kevin.
Both Kristin and Kevin stood there waiting for a response from her, but none ever came.
"Where could she be?" Kevin asked, beginning to panic. "Do you think she took a walk?"
"I don't know Kev," Kristin said. "Why don't we just call Nick and see if he knows where she is?"
"Okay," Kevin said. He quickly went over to the phone and dialed Nick's number.
There was no answer at his home phone, so then he dialed Nick's cell. There was no answer there either. He sighed frustrated as he set the phone down.
"Brian?" Kristin asked.
"Yeah," Kevin said. Then he also called him. But after trying all of his different numbers, and receiving no answer, Kevin gave up.
He then decided to call the rest of the guys, but neither AJ nor Howie had heard from Lily.
Kevin then began pacing back and forth, trying to think of places that Lily could be.
"Kris, what am I going to do? Should I call the police?" Kevin asked worriedly.
"I think you should just wait a little longer, maybe she'll come back," Kristin said.
"But my little girl is missing, I can't just sit here waiting," Kevin said.
"How about you drive around looking for her and I'll stay here just in case she comes back here?" Kristin suggested.
"Okay, that sounds good," Kevin said.
Then he went to grab his keys.
"I'm sure she's fine Kev!" yelled Kristin, just before Kevin walked out.
Kevin quickly got into his truck and backed out of his driveway. He wanted to believe Kristin but not knowing where Lily was and whom she was with and what she was doing made it really hard for him to believe that everything was fine.
The longer he drove around looking for her, the more worried he became. He tried not to let his mind wander about things that could have happened to her, but it did. Soon he was sitting at a red light, tears falling from eyes. He had come so close to losing her in that car accident, that he never wanted to feel that pain again, but now he couldn't find her. The more he thought about her not coming back to him, the harder his sobs were.
He finally decided that he should just go back home, hoping she would be there waiting for him.
The Concert
We had spent the entire day roaming around the concert area, checking out all of the activities. We had a found a game where you would throw darts to win a stuffed animal. Both Angel and I wanted one, so we made Aaron win us one. After a few tries, I had gotten Minnie Mouse and Angel got Winnie the Pooh.
However, once the concert started, we stayed right in the front were Uncle Nick and Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh were.
After the concert was over with we went back to the car, with both Aaron and Angel burnt and me with a little tanner than I was before.
"Hey Bri, can you take Lily home?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, sure," Uncle Brian said.
"Come on Kiddo," Uncle Brian said.
"Okay, let me tell Aaron and Angel goodbye," I said.
He shook his head okay.
Then I went over to hug them.
"Careful," Angel said.
"Yes, very careful," Aaron agreed.
I smiled at them and each gave them a gentle hug. "See ya guys Monday."
Then I went with Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh to their car. I told Uncle Brian about everything that we did with Aunt Leighanne, including how we started the water fight. She wasn't too happy about that, until she grabbed the hose that was near by.
"So what's your dad doing?" Brian asked as we pulled into the driveway.
"I don't know and I don't care," I said.
Uncle Brian looked at me puzzled.
"Anyways, thanks for taking me. I had a lot of fun Aunt Leigh," I said.
"Oh, you're welcome," she said. "I had fun too."
Then I got out and waved goodbye to them. I took out my keys and walked into the house, to find my dad standing there, waiting for me with an angry look on his face.
"Where were you?" he questioned.
"With Uncle Nick, Aaron, Angel, Uncle Brian and Aunt Leigh," I said. "We went to that concert."
"Without telling me?" my dad asked angrily.
"I wrote a note," I said.
He scoffed. "Do you realize how worried I was?"
"No, but I…" I began.
"We'll talk later. Right now I want you to go upstairs to your room," my dad said.
"But Dad," I said.
"Upstairs," he repeated.
I looked at him, and then hurriedly went upstairs, slamming my door behind me.
