She's dying, why does she have to die? Kevin thought as he stared at his girlfriend, Melanie, laying in the hospital bed. She had just been in an automobile accident. Kevin took her hand. She had been passed out since the collision. he thought glancing at the machines that were doing their best to keep her alive.

Melanie let a tear roll down her cheek as she held Kevin's hand. The hospital had tried their best with cleaning his wounds, but his hand was still caked with dry blood. Her lip trembled and heavy tears feel down her face as she watched Kevin sleep in the white hospital bed. Just then a nurse came in to check up on the patient.
"Still out of it huh?" the nurse asked with a sympathetic look on her
face.
"He's gonna be alright, isn't he?" Melanie forced out the question.
The nurse dropped her eyes, "We don't know honey, but my honest opinion, I don't think he'll make
it. I mean that drunk driver hit him head on. I'm sorry miss," the nurse said putting an arm around Melanie and then leaving the room.
Melanie began to weep uncontrollably as she buried her face into Kevin's chest.

Kevin was sitting in a chair staring at Melanie, when he suddenly could almost feel her in his arms and smell her hair, scented with coconut. He thought shaking his head. Then he noticed the bright light by her side. He jumped up, staring at it. The light dissolved, leaving a young golden woman.
Yup buddy you just officially lost it. She smiled at him, like she had heard his thought. Deep love then seemed to fill the room. He then know who she was an angel of God.
"Please don't take her," he cried.
"Silly boy," she said still smiling. "I didn't come to take her. I came
to
take you."
"I don't understand," Kevin said baffled.
"You will, now come with me," she spoke as she reached out her hand.
Kevin
stared at that golden hand for a while, then put his own hand in hers.

Melanie was still crying on Kevin, when the machines keeping him alive
went
off. She jolted up and stared at them dumbfounded. Nurses and doctors
then
flooded the room trying to keep him alive. Then they just stopped.
"What are you doing!" Melanie cried. "Don't just give up! Please
don't!"
"There is nothing we can do miss," said one of the doctors, "he's
already
gone."
"NOO!! KEVVY! Kevvy baby don't leave me!" Melanie freaked out as she
tried to grab Kev's body. The nurses pulled her back from his lifeless body, as
the
doctor pulled a cloth over him.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

"Where are we going?" Kevin asked the angel.
"Home, sweet boy," she replied.
"Where is home?"
"You'll see." The angel took Kevin to a beautiful park filled with
children
and other people. He felt so happy and loved. Two girls then came up to
him.
"Hi Kevin!" they said smiling. They were identical twins.
"Hi, who are you?" he asked.
"We have no names, cause we died after birth," they answered.
"Oh, how do you know me?"
"We were supposed to be Alex's sisters!"
"Girls, why don't you go back to play," suggested the angel. Kevin
wondered.
"Come Kevin, you have another thing to see." She showed him a beautiful
garden with a crystal lake and stream that led to a room. She took him
inside. In it he could see everyone on earth. He saw his god child
playing in
a sunflower field; his friends back home in Kentucky playing B- ball;
his
fellow bandmates sitting in what looked like a waiting room praying;
then he
saw Melanie. He thought as he watched her cry by a body covered with a
white
sheet. She looked so pained and sad, he wished he was there to comfort
her.
Then it hit him. He finally realized. he thought looking at the covered
body.
Then the angel spoke,
"Kevin Scott Richardson." He turned away from the screen and faced her.
"Up here in heaven we love to give second chances, especially since it
was
not your time. We gave one to your cousin and now we give one to you.
If you
want to go back you can. You can be with them again," she pointed to
the
screens.
"All we ask is that you keep making music to keep others happy." Kevin
looked
back at Melanie. He knew what he had to do, even if it meant going away
from
the happiness and love up here.
"I don't want to be the cause of her pain. I wanna go back." The angel
nodded and smiled.
Kevin was then knocked into a black whirlwind. Then he was laying in
pain
with a white cloth on top of him. He heard Melanie's sobs and felt her
tears
as they soaked thru the cloth. Kevin pulled the sheet off of him and
put his
arm around her. She jumped and stared at him.
"Kevin?" she meekly asked as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"But you're....you're..."
"Do you believe in second chances?" he asked wiping her tears away.
They
collapsed into each other's arms and stayed there for what seemed like
an
eternity of love.
