The very dilapidated body of No 85 is shown here resting on the chassis of a Walker battery electric truck of c 1918 vintage. This car was 1 of 3 built originally as single deck trams. All were converted to a double deck type within a few years. Originally they were numbered 17, 18 & 19 by The Canterbury Tramway Co Ltd. Photos exist showing them in both styles.
