More Ads of Mine that Didn't Work
I think this is the 1st ad I ever placed (exciting, eh?)
I'm mostly looking for a pen pal or friend. While I'd like to
have a long term relationship, I'm self employed (computer
consulting and such), and don't make a lot of money.I'm very
interested in music - right now my passion is trance and
progressive house, which most people (at least in the US) haven't
heard of. (it's a type of dance music that is sort of a cross
between disco and progressive rock). I like most music, as long
it's not harsh on the ears (like country with it's off key
singing,and some jazz and classical that feature high pitched
instruments). My other main hobby is reading - I read a lot - I
try to average a book a day - I read pretty much anything, but I
prefer older mysteries and detective novels, fantasy novels, and
non fiction books on history, the paranormal, astronomy. I also
like spending time outdoors (well, obviously not in winter),
especially stargazing or watching meteor showers, but am not
really big on things like camping or bike riding. And I really
like animals, in particular cats. I have 3 of my own, and
feed/take care of several more stray ones.Honestly, I'm not the
most exiciting person in the world. I'm quiet, but I enjoy
talking (and listening) to someone.In case it matters, I'm decent
looking, 5' 11 1/2", about 160 lbs, with short-ish brown
hair that's dyed blonde.
What gets me, is that the only woman who really answered this ad, later called me 'unattractive' because I didn't have a large ego. Now, reading my ad, isn't that pretty bloody obvious? So later, I decided to point out that fact as bluntly as I possibly could.

I'm 28, 5'11", 165 lbs, shortish brown hair (bleached
blond), brown eyes, okay looking (some women have found me
attractive in the past anyway. I have a scanned pic of me if you
want it). While I'd really like a serious relationship, I'm
self-employed, and don't make a lot of money, which tends to get
in the way (that's the best way to put it, I guess). So more
realistically, I'm looking for an email pen pal or friend.
In any case, I'm looking for someone similar to myself: similar
interests, at least average looking, around my age, in reasonable
shape, no kids, not an alcoholic, unattached, intelligible, and
fairly bright.

My main interest right now is music - specifically progressive
trance & house & related genres. Pretty much all I listen
to, but the only type I really hate is modern country. I also
read a lot (about a book a day) in a variety of subjects -
mysteries (fiction and non), ancient archaeology/history,
UFOs/paranormal, fantasy/sci-fi, religion/philosophy/newage and
not overly gruesome horror. In nice weather, I like to spend a
lot of time outdoors, usually reading but also walking/jogging,
lifting weights, stargazing, and other low-key things. I'm also
fairly fond of computer and video games, although I really only
play them in winter/bad weather. I also really like animals - at
least cats & dogs. I have 3 cats of my own, and take care of
several more stray ones. I don't like TV much except for
baseball/football games, old movies, the Simpsons, As Time Goes
By, a few reruns, and the History Channel. Yes, I'm not very
exciting, but I like it that way - I've had far too many brushes
with death as it is...
I'd like to think of myself as nice, sweet, & caring, and I
am, but objectively speaking, I'm not always. To people I
dislike, which is most of them, I'm pretty grouchy when I don't
ignore them. I'm introverted, and so I tend to be quiet, but with
someone I like, I can talk a lot. My sense of humor tends towards
both the sarcastic & absurd. I'm cynical, but I try to keep a
positive attitude.

I've had really bad luck with ads here, but I'm stubborn, so will
keep at this. The only good reply I've ever had turned out to be
a jerk, and the rest have either been overly terse, porno ads,
insults, or unintelligible. And a couple from married women.
Geeze...if you're married, why don't you go talk to your husband?
Maybe your marriage might be better than way...
I've had terrible luck with this so far, but then again I
can't say I'm much of a catch. I don't make much money (I'm a
self employed computer consultant), am not terribly exciting, and
am not particularly good looking (pretty average looking). Some
might (and have) say I have a low esteem problem, but I consider
it more that I know who I am. I just turned 29, am 5'11
1/2", about 165 lbs, and in okay shape. I don't drink or
smoke or have kids.
I'm fairly nice, try to be considerate of people's feeling, and
try not to be a jerk. I tend to be quiet unless I know a person
well. I have an odd and sometimes sarcastic sense of humor and
can take a joke, although I can't say I really like being
insulted. I'm rather cynical but try to keep a positive attitude
(I really don't like negative people).
My main hobby and passion is uplifting progressive trance and
house music (hence my yahoo id name). Besides listening to it,
I'm also a (very) amateur DJ. I also read a lot, just about
anything but sci-fi, fantasy, mysteries, noir, paranormal,
mythology, and history books are my favorite. I also like
computer/video games, jogging when I can, astronomy, and watching
football and the baseball Cardinals. I consider myself to be
fairly bright. I'm also very very fond of cats. I have 3 myself,
and take care of many more stray ones.
So what am I looking for? Well, I'm pretty lonely. Cats are nice,
but only fill the void so much, since you can't really have much
of a conversation with them. (Plus, I'm starting to have dreams
about catching mice.) So, I'm looking for someone similar to me
(around my age, similar interests, bright, not an alcoholic, not
morbidly obese, no kids, etc) as a pen pal or friend or more. I'd
like a serious relationship, but as I don't have much money, that
can be difficult, not to mention my geographical location.
