August 12th - Big trade yesterday. Boston traded away starter Nate Robertson for OF prospects Corey Hart and Matt Murton along with four picks. OF was the one area in the minor leagues that lacked a big time prospect but now with Hart and Murton joining Lind, Markakis, and Granderson the team doesn't look too bad at that position in the future.

August 17th - Dellin Betances and Cedric Hunter have been picked up in the amateur draft by Boston. More then likely both players were overdrafted but Boston felt so strongly about them that they knew they had to select them, and with 32 picks before Boston's next pick if Boston didn't select them now there was a good chance somebody would have taken the gamble instead. GM Brandon Riley was reported as saying that, "Honestly we like Dellin Betances as much as any 1st rounder, and with Cedric Hunter's performance in high school and the minors we felt he was better then anybody else out there." Well we'll see.

August 17th
- To all the passionate Red Sox fans who have been angry about the team's dismal year, Riley had this to say, "Please stop the 'We Want Theo Back' chant... this is a rebuilding year where we're amazingly still competing. Most teams would be thrilled at having a chance at the playoffs with as much bad luck we had this year. Will all do respect to my players, Varitek, Giles, Ensberg, Pierre, Figgins, Bay, JD Drew, Green, Floyd, Sexson, Weaver, Davis, Cordero, Benitez, and Baez ALL are underperforming or underperformed this year. You just can't expect to be in first when all is said and done when half of your team doesn't live up to expectations. You just can't do it. Honestly, Morneau and Freddie Sanchez have saved this season.

Such words condemning the players usually warrant a firing of the GM, fortunately for Riley he also owns the team.

August 21st
- The Red Sox have just moved into 6th place. This is the first time this year that they have been in the top half of the league.

The Red Sox also just drafted Jonathan Sanchez in the August Draft.

September 14th - Red Sox got 6th place in the regular season and made the playoffs. Amazingly they tied Seattle in the first round and for some reason went onward in the playoffs. Currently the Red Sox are beating up on the Yankees despite the Yankees being in 2nd place in the regular season.

Marcus Lemon and Jeremy Hellickson are now Red Sox.

December 15th - Red Sox came in 2nd this season. Now they are getting ready for the offseason. Their general manager doesn't see too many things to change entering 2007. "We have a contender here that not only can compete now but is very young and will be a contender for years to come. Our infield is set possibly for the next decade and our outfield just has one weak spot... if you can call Pierre/Drew weak. Plus we have what we think is the best combination of youth and talent in our starting pitching staff. Seriously the only weakness is catcher and by 2008 you can expect a youngster out of Salty, Clement, and Kottaras to take over there. We have nothing to worry about... well ok I guess it would be nice to find another dependable closer."

March 13th - A roster purge has taken place the past few days as no fewer then 50 players have been cut from the Red Sox... most of these players haven't played in years and were just wasting roster space. The best player cut was Ismeal Valdes, and best prospect was Seung Song and Kris Honel... Whoop de doo... Kindof sad that Seung Song was the best prospect on this team when the league was started and Honel actually was one of the key players in the Jeff Kent trade in 2002.

Among FA this year the Red Sox have cut some long mainstays on their team such as Cliff Floyd and Trot Nixon, and resigned JD Drew, Juan Pierre, and Lugo. Winning bids from Boston include Piazza, Gagne, and numerous secondary players. Later on we will learn who the Red Sox actually will get to keep.
