Angels are the awesome monsters that have arived on earth.  In total there are 17 known angels, each that can create thier own ATF (Absolute Terror Field) that protects them from most any physical attack, plus have a variaty of bioloically linked attacks, depends on form and capabilites of the angel.  Although powerful, they each have a weak point, most be it the red orb, usually found around the chest area.  Apon destroying this, the angel dies...

The First Angel Code Name            -Adam Episode appearence- 21    The very first angel, discovered during the Katsuragi expidition to Antartica, in which Misato accompanied her father too.  Adam, infact, was the main cause of the Second Impact, after humanity tried to capture him, was set into an embryo form.  The Evangelion Units where all fanishioned after this Angel.

The Second Angel Code Name            -Lilith Episode appearence- 15 Held deep within terminal Dogma, in the Nerv facilities, she was once thought by Kaji and Misato to be Adam, the first angel.  Little else is known about Lilith, other than the reason she is kept alive.  The rod in her chest prevents regeneration to her lower half, so that she bleeds, creating LCL (link connection liquid), which is the liquid that connects a pilot to the Evangelion.  Shenji picks up many times that the LCL smells like blood...

The Third Angel Code Name            -Sachiel Episode appearence- 01 The first angel to make an appearence in the series, it wreaked havok on Tokyo-3 until Shenji Ikari was Recruited to pilot Eva 01 and defeat it.  One of the more fighting capable angels, equiped with both a longe range blast that happends to make a cross pattern apon explosion, and two close range "ram rods" in the palms of Sachiel's hands, which can deliver a encredibly high pressured blow.  Eva 01 had to go Berserk to defeat it.

The Forth Angel Code Name            -Shamshel Episode appearence- 03 Three weeks after the attack of Sachiel, Shamshel attacked Tokyo-3.  Made souly for close-combat, it's only offensive weapons are two laser whips, or tentacals.  The tentacles are so powerful, they even managed to puncture Eva 01's defensive armor. Once again, it was the angel was defeated by Eva 01, but all too close, after Shamshel cut the umbilical cord powering 01.

The Fifth Angel Code Name            -Ramiel Episode appearence- 05 An enivitable flying fortress, Ramiel was, in my oppionion, the strongest physical angel to challenge the Evas.  Ramiel was heavily equiped, with drilling mechanism to tunnle to the Nerv Geofront, a exceptionally strong AT field, and a partical beam cannon that targets anyone that comes within a set range of the angel, and can melt right through an Eva, given 5 seconds.  Ramiel was only destroyed by Eva 01 after using a sniper rifle from a long distance.

The Sixth Angel Code Name            -Gaghiel Episode appearence- 08 A litteral Whale of an beast, this is the only aquatic angel.  Also meant for only close-range combat, Gaghiel is armed with only a large set of teeth, capable of piercing a Eva easily.  To make up for the lack of offense, Gaghiel make up in size and suprising agility and speed.  Gaghiel was taken out after Eva 02, with both shenji and Asuka in the entry plug, pried it's mouth open to shove two UN battleshi[s down the angels throught and implode the mammoth.

The Seventh Angel Code Name            -Israfel Episode appearence- 09 An exceptionally unique angel, it has the ability to seperate it's self into two different organisms.  All though it's AT field is rather poor, and it is little more than a close quater fighter, it has exception strength, and easily dissposed of both Eva 01 and Eva 02, upon thier first meet.  It was not beaten until both Asuka and Shenji had to cooperate and defeat the best completely in sync.

The Eiegth Angel Code Name            -Sandalphon Episode appearence- 10 Very similar to that of Gaghiel, the aquatic angel, Sandalphon was discoevered as an egg in a volcanoe.  Sandalphon is much smaller than Gaghiel, although it may be due to the fact that it was still in it's infancy.  It's AT field strength is unknown, but it's skin is incredibly thick, due to the high pressures and temperatures it calls home.  After an attempt of Eva 02 to capture it, it hatched and attacked.  Using the theory of thermal expansion, Asuka used the Type D equipment coolant to "dissolve" the angel.

The Ninth Angel Code Name            -Matariel Episode appearence- 11 A surprisingly weak angel, in comparison to the others, Matariel had little more than the element of surprise on it's side to make it to Nerv.  Armed with only the ability to create extreamly corrosive acid from the center "eye", and having such a weak AT field that could not even hold against a standard Evangelion Rifle burst, it would have been much easier for the 3 Evas to destroy, had it not been for the power outage of the Nerv facilities that partially crippled the Evas.

The Tenth Angel Code Name            -Sahaqiel Episode appearence- 12 Another mammothed sized angel, sahaqiel's only means of attack is to drop a chunk of itself unto the earth's surface, until it perfects it's aim, when it dropped it's full self on it's target.  After a mass evacuation of Tokyo-3, the angel was thankfully stopped, after being caught by all the of the Eva units, long enough to disperce the angel's stronge AT field and destroy it.

The Eleventh Angel Code Name            -Iruel Episode appearence- 13 More of a Virus than anything, Iruel is n the verge of perfection.  It has the capabilites to infect even Nerv's most powerful supercomputers, the 3 MAGI, and can addapt to anycondition.  Early on, it had an apparent weakness to Ezone, it quickly addapted and over came that weakness.  This time, it was not the mighty strength of the Evas, but rather the intelligence of both Ritsoku and her past mother.

The Twelth Angel Code Name            -Leliel Episode appearence- 16 Equally as wierd as some of the other's, Leliel is one of the more mysterous of the given angels.  With a dameter of 680 meters, it is nothing more than a "black hole".  The large black and white sphere is nothing more than it's shadow, that fooled the Eva team, not once but twice.  With rather unusaul agressiveness, Shenji tried to attack the angel head on, and ended up getting captured in the angel's abstact galaxy within.  With nothing else to do, Nerv came up with the solution of droppng all remaining N2 mines into the Angel, blowing it and Eva 01 sky-high.  Seconds before the drop, Eva 01 went berserk, tearing the angel appart from the inside.

The Thirteenth Angel Code Name            -Bardiel Episode appearence- 18 What was once the American made Evangelion Unit 03, the parisitic Bardiel overcame it, trapping the 4th child inside it's entry plug, as it wreaked havoc throughout the Geofront.  It plowed though Units 00 and 02 with ease, and moved on to Unit 01.  Because of the pilot inside, an internal conflict arrised in Shenji, as he redfused to fight Bardiel, due to the fact that the Third child was still inside the entry plug.  Without Shenji's concent, Gendou Ikari activated the dummy plug system, taking the Evangelion into Auto pilot, and it litteraly crushed Eva Unit 03, and smahed the entry plug.

The Fourteenth Angel Code Name            -Zeruel Episode appearence- 19 Truely devestating, Zeruel is similar to that of Shamshel, although it is quite a bit stronger.  Instead of laser tentacals, it has razor sharp whips, that have a rather long range to them, used to completely slice away at the opponent.  It also has a longe ranged weapon, close to that a Sachiel, but with a much more devistating effect.  It also has a stronge AT field, for added defense.

The Fifteenth Angel Code Name            -Arael Episode appearence- 22 In it's earthly orbit, Arael has the exceptionally stronge ability of mind control.  Once it rapes a person's mind, it leaves the victim paralyzed, and severly brain damaged.  Like Sahaqiel, it also has the ability to fire from it's orbit, with little resistance from the ground units and llong ranged weapons, because of it's stronge AT field.

The Sixteenth Angel Code Name            -Armisael Episode appearence- 23 With ungodely speed, agility, and stealthiness, it leaves Armiseal almost untouchable.  So fast, that there is a extreamly slim chance of hitting the Angel with either longe or close ranged attacks.  It also has an extreamly powerful AT field, capable of tearing though it's opponent's deferences.  It's only offensive manuver is to merge with it's attacking foes, and attack them from within.

The Seventeenth Angel Code Name            -Tabris, or Kaoru Episode appearence- 24 Unlike any other Angel, Tabris was able to take a human form, and infiltrate Nerv with much ease, under the cover as the fifth child.  Although his phsical attacks by himself are lacking, he has the ability to syncronize with any Eva, provinding his soul is stronger than it's, and pilot them, from within the entry plug or from remote locations, thus turning Nerv's one hope to fight the Angels against them.  Tabris is also able to generate an exceptionally stronge AT field.  He manages quickly befried both Rei Ayanami and Shenji.
