Name- Rei Ayanami Codename- 00, first children Age- 14 Backround-      A very sad character Rei Ayanami is, she is quite confusing... and hard to understand.  Rei was a genetic clone, born from cells of both Gendou Ikari, and his wife (Shenji's Parents), directly after the Second Impact hit.  There were actually 3 clones of Rei.  The first was exterminated by Dr. Akagi, the original creator of the Magi super-computer, after repeating many insults heard from Gendou to Akagi.  Reborn again, as a shell with the memories of the former Rei, but with a lack of emotions and the understanding of life and death... she still held high respect for her creator, Gendou, he being the only one she ever fully opened up to. Born souly to pilot the Evangelion unit 00, with contained the essence of Akagi.  During training, Eva 00 went bersek, with Rei inside, tryed to break through it's restraints, in attempts to kill Gendou.  After shutting down and collapsing, Gendou, surprisingly, pried open the burning hot entry plug, to rescue the badely injured Rei, scaring his own hands permently.  Out of action for a while, and aloud to heal due to the appearence of the Third Children, Shenji Ikari, she eventually began to fight again, along side of Shenji Ikari and Asuka Langely Soryu.  During one battle with the angels, Eva 00 becomes severly damaged, and shuts down. Shenji pries open the entry plug, just as his father had, to reveal an unharmed Rei... this was one if the few times Rei smiles.  Some say that Shenji and Rei formed an even closer bond than gendou, but it was quite understated.  This was Rei's inner essence, Shenji mother, and some of Rei's feelings coming out.  Rei truely cared about Shenji, and at one point, sacrificed herself and her Eva unit in order to destroy a deadly Angel and save Shenji from danger.  Before she died, she said " I want to unite with(be with) Shenji-kun...  Her death, although, remained unknown, as Gendo recreated another clone, the third, and started over the character that had been built within the previous...
