165ecm1.jpg (362465 bytes)Here is a picture of the new "165" ECM with the two new MAF Burnoff and Power Relays wired in to replace the very expensive ($961) MAF Burnoff Module.  The old, now unused burnoff module can be seen at the lower left, the silver/black box with the 6 wires coming out of it.  Many thanks go out to Mike and his neighbor Dave of Elkton, Maryland for performing this swap.  Full details of how to perform the swap can be seen at Mike's EEPROM Project Page.

165ecm2.jpg (385457 bytes)Another picture of the new "165" ECM with all the required repinnings completed.  The stock EEPROM can be seen in the foreground (light blue/black) on the left and the custom burned EEPROM (brown/black) on the right..  I tucked the two MAF relays up under the dash and mounted them where the old burnoff module was.

reinstall.jpg (343697 bytes)Reinstalling the dash pad and passenger side hush panels after the road test has been completed.  The entire evolution took approximately 4 1/2 hours altogether, and after the repinning Mike started to burn the custom EEPROM configured to the modifications that had already been performed on the engine.  Timing and spark curves were advanced, torque converter clutch lockup was raised to 41mph, and the radiator fan comes on at about 180 degrees instead of the stock setting of 225 degrees. After the new EEPROM was burned, the engine was run through diagnostics with Diacom Software and the data can be seen here:
