	As far as hygienic knowledge or medical science
	is concerned, we may to some extent say that
	we are more advanced than our ancestors.

	ถ้าคิดถึงความรู้ในทางอนามัยหรือในทางวิทยา
	ศาสตร์การแพทย์เป็นหลักแล้ว เราก็อาจกล่าว
	ได้ว่า เรามีความเจริญกวาบรรพบุรุษของเราอยู่
	บ้าง

	ฺBut,where the development of destructive 
	weapons is cencerned, we have to admit
	that we are also more barbarous than our
	forefathers.

	แต่ถ้าคิดถึงความก้าวหน้า(ในการสร้าง)
	อาวุธทำลายล้างกันแล้ว เราก็จะต้องรับว่า
	เราป่าเถื่อนว่าบรรพบุรุษของเรา

	Some kinds of promise are better broken
	than fulfilled. These refer to those promises 
	that are not given in a sane moment such 
	as when one is drunk or that are pledge, 
	either willing or forced, to do evil. Breaking
	such a promise may ba a loss as far as the
	observance of Precepts is concerned; but 
	as far as the law of morality is concerned,
	it is compensated by the avoidence of all
	the trouble and evil that might result 
	therefrom.Thus it is, on the whole,a profit.

	คำมั่นสัญญาบางอย่างนั้นคืนคำเสียดีกว่า
	รักษาไว้ เรื่องเช่นนี้หมายถึงคำมั่นสัญญา
	ที่ไม่ได้ให้ในเวลาที่มีสติเป็นปกติ เช่น
	คำมั่นสัญญาที่กล่าวในเวลามึนเมาเป็นต้น
	หรือหมายถึงคำมั่นสัญญาที่เป็นการรับรอง
	ว่าจะมีความชั่วร้ายอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่งจะ
	เป็นคำรับรองโดยถุกบังคับหรือโดยเต็มใจ
	ก็ตาม  กรเสียสัญญาดังกล่าวนี้อาจจะเป็น
	การเสียจริงในด้านศีล แต่เมื่อถึงธรรมแล้ว
	ก็เป็นการชดเฃยกันได้โดยที่เป็นการหลีก
	เลี่ยงความลำบากและโทษบาปต่าง ๆ อัน
	อาจเกิดขึ้นจากการทำความชั่วนั้น ๆ เสียได้
	ดังนั้น เมื่อเกล่าวโดยส่วนรวมแล้ว ก็ชื่อว่า
	เป็นการได้กำไร
