Napoleon esusts to charlgrin  the building of one arch to the glory of the French Armies. It was to be called "L'Arc de Triomphe". Which translated English means "The Trimphul Arch". Construction started in 1806 and was completed in 1836. The Arch is fifty meters high and forty five meters wide at the top. There is also a French flag hanging from the top of the Arch (as shown above). Below the Arch, the body of the Unknown Soldier of France is laid to rest. The Flame of the Remembrance is lit every evening at 6:30 pm to commemorate the millions who have died serving their country. On 14 july - the French National Day (reffered to as Bastille Day everywhere exept in France) - military parade down the Champs Elysees begins. For important occasions of state, and national holiday, a huge French tricolor is unfurled and hung form the vaulted ceiling insie the Arch.
