Ottawa The Story!

 Of people and carrots..............

On the way to Karen's House.....On the Way to Karen's House........ On the Way to Karen's House.....

I boarded the plane and waited anxiously to see who would sit beside me! Whew! A nice "proper" lady from England! After we had been flying a while she asked if I was going on holiday.. and if I had friends in Canada.. I explained that I was going to stay with an e-mail friend.. she remarked how nice it was to stay with people one knew.. so I told her we'd never met she edged away from me a little.. and said how brave I was to be staying with someone I didn't know.. she made the word brave sound more like " stupid" some people just have that knack I guess < shrugs>

She asked if I knew anyone else over there.. and I said " oh yes there are about 20 of us meeting up " she seemed relieved.. and said " Well at least there'll be lots of people you've met there then".. I explained further.. that I had met one or two of them briefly but none of the ones from the US or Canada she gulped.. audibly!

She clasped my hands..( just what IS it about me that makes people do that!!!!?) and said sincerely " I think you're terribly brave dear ".. and you know what?.. she still made brave sound like " stupid"  must have been her accent I suppose eh?

The flight was fairly uneventful. I looked constantly out of the windows but saw nothing but clouds.. fluffy white clouds..we craned our necks hoping for a glimpse of sea or land or something interesting.. but to no avail. They came round with snacks for us - we looked askance at each other - they'd given us packs of raw carrots! " Oh well" we mused " maybe they thought they'd help us see better through the clouds! ". So we obediently opened the packets and soon an echo of

crunch.....crunch......crunch.....crunch...crunch....crunch...crunch....crunch....crunch...crunch.....

was heard all over the plane accompanied by stoic grimaces and a plaintive " But Mummy I don't like carrots"
